UPDATED: JAN 22, 2018 I only bought one bottle of this. I should have bought an entire six-pack. I really should have bought more of this. This beer does tastes great, but dear God it smells amazing. It smells like a peanut butter sandwich and a glass of rye whiskey and a vanilla candle and another shot of rye. Some of that doesn't quite come through on the flavor though, because it's a bit hot. but I do get the coffee on the finish, and that's amazing, because coffee can't usually compete with big whiskey barrel notes. At 12.6% ABV, I should have expected some heat, and I really wish I had picked up a few more bottles to set in the basement for a while. but how do you time it perfectly so you still get the coffee without losing anything else? I don't know. This beer is perfect right now though, I know that. this is Lagunitas doing it right. rxeight (3344) - Illinois, USA - DEC 9, 2017
12 oz, 2017. Lots of rye spice. Light barrel, bit of whiskey. Smooth. Pretty mediocre ba stout. The real highlight of this beer is the price. $12 for a six pack of a barrel aged imperial stout. Can’t beat that. gregwilsonstl (2735) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - NOV 25, 2017

Draft at Eureka. Wow! Right from the start, a real pleasure. Nothing exceptional on the pour. Sweet, chocolaty aroma, whiskey, chocolate. Taste explodes on the pallet, chocolate, vanilla, whiskey, sweet and roasty. Alcohol heat is present and increases in the gullet. Really nicely done.k IndianaRed (5208) - Boise, Idaho, USA - OCT 29, 2017
Deep pitch black. Thick dense creamy tan head. Huge sweet chocolate and licorice aromas and flavors. Some whiskey notes as well but complimentary and not over done. Smooth creamy palate and lingering milk chocolate trailer. Very tasty.
