AWISLguy (3016) - Wisconsin, USA - OCT 20, 2016
12oz bottle from Binnyís in Highland Park. Way too much carbonation. Taste, though, is citrus and sweet malts. Nice IPA overall. Orange body. More sweet than bittersweet. Juicy! 13.8

Hazy Amber with an average off white head. Aroma is sweet citrus, floral hops, and grain. Pine as well. Taste is sweet. More malt forward with tropical fruit and pine. Caramel as well. A bit sticky and semi dry.

Pours a clear golden in color with a medium, though short, bubbly white head. The citrus aroma contains pineapple, grapefruit, orange, floral hops, and hints of herbal hops. The taste is fruity with a touch of sweetness. There is orange, tangerine, grapefruit, and a mild pine. Aftertaste is a lighter and long lasting orange flavor. For an IPA there is very little bitterness to it. Medium in body, with s bit of a sticky texture, and about average in carbonation. The lack of bitterness and hoppy impressions make this one pretty unusual. However, its pretty tasty.

12 oz. bottle poured to a Czech-pils glass at home, displaying a clear & bright, orangey gold color, with persistent, thick & frothy head foam, with clingy patches of lacing down the sides of the glass. The nose was citrus as tangerine, peel, and some grapefruit, combined with sweetened rhubarb, and maybe a bit of berry scent. Medium bodied, with okay carbonation, and a little creaminess to the mouthfeel, the taste included a moderate but lingering, earthy & rind-like bitterness to go along with a slightly more muddled presentation of the aroma notes. Didnít come off as overly fresh, but a decent enough IPA, nonetheless.

Bottle. Pours a hazy pale gold with a white head that starts and remains at the edges. Aroma has notes of earthy passion fruit with some earthy onion and a sweet grain backbone. Flavor is similar with some sweet passion fruit, earthy onion and a relatively sweet grain backbone.

Bomber poured in a tulip glass. Pours a dark gold with white head. Very strong hints of grapefruit in my opinion too much. Beer is drinkable but sees off balance with a strong slightly unpleasant aftertaste.

This one is pretty forgettable and also might have some kind of infection. It is a cloudy orange brew w/ a huge head or foam due to being severely overcarbonated. It has a decent citrus quality to the nose along w/ a hint of spice. This is a little on the sweet side and heave and is one of those overcarbonated beers that ends up being flat when you drink it. It finishes with some lingering sweetness and a touch of orange-peel bitterness. I am not sure if this is how itís supposed to be or what but in a world where I can get a ton of great local IPA, I do not see myself buying this again.

Bomber. . . One of the more disappointing IPAís Iíve had lately. I didnít finish the glass, let alone the bottle, which is rare for me. If it were labeled a "pale ale" I might not have such a negative reaction, but this just is not in IPA territory for me-- fair too sweet and light, with a very light and watery mouth feel. Also, the hop flavors seemed very confused. I wouldnít call it piney, floral or citrusy, but I also would not call it a nice blend of those either. Most of all what I could not get past was the lightness and wateriness of it-- I donít know what it measures, but simply didnít taste like it has the IBUs to be an IPA. Iíd bet itís under 60. Finally, just checked the bottle, and it notes this beer has two additions of dry hops during brewing. Iím sorry but I donít believe it! I guess there may be those who like lighter IPAs-- definitely would steer them here.
