COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India Pale Ale: Old school version of an IPA. Still balanced; not a ‘one trick pony’ pale. Named after the country song “It’s hard to kiss the lips at night that chew your ass out all day long”.

afterglow (1047) - Florida, USA - MAR 18, 2008
Bottle. Pours a clear golen with a small white head that fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing. Aroma of sweet malt with hints of floral and citrus hops. Tastes is the same as aroma. Medium thin mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and slightly tart finish. Good.

kyzr (1548) - Montana, USA - JAN 23, 2008
Bottle thanks to ogglethorp. Almost amber pour with a nice off-white head. Hoppy nose with a nutty toasted malt nose. Flavor is hoppy, yet somewhat faint. Sweetness of the malt shows up in the middle with a bitter finish.

heemer77 (5358) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - JAN 14, 2008
Bottle. Dark gold body with lots of small particle sediment that floats without moving. A very thick, dense khaki head top tops the strange looking beer. Smells of grapefruit and bread crust are pungent. There is also some almond and caramel. The taste has grapefruit with some bitter burnt bread crust in the finish. There are also some black tea notes. The mouthfeel is sticky and thick. A very nicely made IPA.

Thanks skyview. The beer pours to a hazy golden body with lots of tiny particulate. A thin white head sits on top. The aroma is full of grapefruit. The flavor is a bitter spruce and grapefruit mix. Pale malts on the finish. The palate is carbonated and bitter. Raw.

madcow75 (426) - Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 30, 2007
Bottle. Pours clear orange witha medium off white head. Aroma is citrus, grapefruit, orange and melon. Taste is sweet up front and bitter at the end, more citrus, cantalope keeps coming to mind. A little acidic. The bitterness lingers for a while. A little thinne than I would’ve liked. Overall, I liked this.

Courtesy hopscotch. Thanks Eric! Pours a cloudy burnt orange with a huge, frothy, well-retained off white head. Smells of very citrusy hops, other citrus fruits, and a little sweet cinnamon. I rather enjoyed the aroma. The flavor was almost somewhat tart, with the hops only showing up near the finish. Kind of bittersweet, with a decent amount of citrus fruit making its presence known. Not horrible, but i sensed a little infection in there, which kind of killed the hops.

Bottle... Hazy golden ale with a large, frothy, white head. Terrific retention. At first, the aroma was acidic/sour with citric and earthy notes. Lemon too. However, as it warmed to room temperature, the acidity almost entirely disappeared... weird. Score adjusted. Moderately bitter flavor with essences of lemon peel and grapefruit rind. Mild pale grain sweetness and bacterial tanginess. Medium-bodied with Champagne-like spritziness. Finishes tangy and bone dry. I can’t figure out whether this bottle is infected. Probably a bit. Lower score if I rated by style.

On tap at the Thirsty Troll Brewfest

There wasn’t much to get excited about at this festival but it was a nice chance to try a number of beers I’ve always glossed over. This was one that falls in that camp. I found it good but not exactly what I was hoping. Still if you happen to be in the neighborhood of Madison pick up a bottle.

Aroma / Appearance - The transparent carbonated body was a light yellow with a short lived head. Lemons, grass and wheat were evident but not as strong as I was expecting from an IPA.

Flavor / Palate - The body was thick and bitter. This beer tastes better than it smells. Grassy hops yield to a florally pine aftertaste that then fades in the back of the throat. It’s not bad but I found it kind of bland on the whole.

clear amber, wispy white head, drops of lace, sweet citrus aroma with sweet pine, sweet caramel malt flavor with lots of sweet citrus hops, nice long bitter finish that gives the hop flavor plenty of time before it kicks in,

Clear golden/amber body topped with a small but persistent white head. Aroma of grapefruit hops, caramel, pine tar, cracked black pepper. Medium body with tingly feel. Flavor was citrusy edged with some sweetness. Pleasant and refreshig.
