Pours a dark color with a small head that leaves a little lacing on the glass. The aroma is sweet and reminds me of toffee. Interesting. The flavor has some bitter chocolate along with some roasted malts and some sweet lactose. Very creamy and easy to drink. Excellent brew.

Very dark brown, almost black color with a tan head that retains pretty well and has decent lacing. Smell is sweet; milk chocolate, roastiness, and a subtle touch of vanilla. Taste is similar to smell, roasty, with some chocolate, some sweet caramel in there as well. Mouthfeel was medium bodied and well carbonated. Very drinkable, I’d enjoy having this one in my fridge quite a bit. LtJudge (468) - Muskego, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 24, 2006

Draft at the OF. Big and sweet chocolate aroma. Patchy soapy head. beigish. Lots of oatmeal and lactose in the taste, capturing the essence of the style quite nicely. Rich and full bodied. Almost a touch sour and pungent, in a true to style way. Excellent. upaboveit (4) - - DEC 6, 2012 does not count

Pours a dark black, small off white head. Aroma of lactose, and choclate/coffee. Flavor is creamy and smooth, choclate and roasted dark coffee. Very flavorful, smooth and creamy finish. Thanks to DavidP for sharing this one! deschepp (5) - USA - DEC 20, 2005 does not count
High fine head poured form the bottle. Dark and opaque in color. Very definite chocolatey aroma. Deeply roasted malt flavor. Smooth texture slight sweetness. This beer is very enjoyable with spicy foods. I recommend drinking it with jambalaya at the General Store in Spring Green. brewblackhole (1588) - Muskego, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 24, 2006
Poured with little or no head, sweet chocolate aroma, first sip was like an old time drug store chocolate soda only smoother, silky smooth texture, creamy sweetness got just a little bitter towards the end. An excellent sweet stout, I liked it better than Mackesons murrayswine (101) - Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 27, 2006
This beer came from an impromptu Madison trip. It pours a dark dark brown but is still thin enough to be seen as a mahogany in an off light.
The smell is coffee roast, subtle sweet malts, and a heavy bread.
The taste is all milk and roast. It leaves you creamy and malty but with that slightly bittering milk aftertaste, which serves only to make you want to drink more. It finishes clean but with a hint of bitter. A damn fine beer! Too bad I have to go to frickin Madison to get it. Skyview (6055) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - MAR 29, 2007
Froma 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep brown with a creamy tan head. Nose is sweet with a scent of roasted milk chocolate and vanilla. Tastes the same as aroma. A smooth finish compared to most stouts I’ve had. Very well done.
