3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sweet malt with a savory saltiness like soy sauce. Tickleish hoppiness. Faily typical, but well done and hides the alcohol well.
bottle to snifter that pours a very dark brown with mocha colored head and plenty of lacing. lots of roasted malts, heave molasses, maybe some dark fruit but not plums or dates. flavor is pretty good, lots of molasses and licorice gives it some bite. roasted malts are good. overall. it would be very good if it didn’t have that bite but still very drinkable. shrubber85 (11460) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - AUG 28, 2016
Bottle. Cherry, chocolate caramel malt, and dry hay aroma. Very dark brown with large tan head. Moderately sweet cherry/orange, chocolate caramel malt, and moderately bitter herbal hay flavor. Body a bit light for an imperial stout. Not as bold as the average imperial stout but very nice taste. nimbleprop (8454) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - FEB 2, 2016
12oz bottle pours an inky black with some cloudy, tan head. Nose has malt, molasses, burnt toast, cocoa nibs. Flavor is licorice, toast, molasses, mild raisin. Full bodied, sweet finish. AWISLguy (3177) - Wisconsin, USA - JUL 21, 2015
Bottle from Liquor Central to snifter. Black pour - black as night, black as coal - with a foamy tan head. Nose has raisins, sour milk, light chocolate and caramel. The raisin/sour milk lead is not a positive. Taste is of caramel, bakers chocolate, lactose, and light grapes. Medium to full bodied, maybe a touch thin for an impy stout. With little alcohol presence. Finishes sweet and lightly fruity. Cocoa Krispies with some raisins in milk? An "ok" brewery, and not one of their best, unfortunately. 11.8 Troupis (253) - - APR 18, 2015
Coffee coffee coffee. That's the game and heaviness on this beer. Smooth and complex. A little too over the top in the coffee direction to be a perfect score but if looking for heavy in that direction this is a winner.

"courtesy pfoxyjohn...pours dark brown, almost black, but not quite. body is medium-full. smaller than some impies i’ve had but not bad. aroma is a tad on the weak side. chocolate, malts, licorice. no sign of 12% til it’s close to room temp. i;d have guessed 8-9. a little more bitter in the finish, with more cocoa in the flavor. nice, but not with the depth of character that the best impy’s have."

Draft. Dark pour, listed as 8% abv. Cocoa, dark fruits, pretty nice russian imperial stout. JonnyMadison (87) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - APR 8, 2014
Bottle. Very dark and rich, strong chocolate and fruit. Very smooth. Tastes great on its own, but did not work with the pizza I was eating, giving everything a bitter aftertaste. Good flavor for imperial stout. Bacterial (3005) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - APR 15, 2013
Pour from a 12 oz bottle - thanks Bob! Dark brown pour that is slightly reddish. Tan head is creamy. Nose is massive chocolate and dark fruit. This beer might be infected, but in a good way - sour cherry, chocolate and a slightly sour finish works really well with the sweet malts. This seems to be a happy accident, for me anyway!
