COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed in the classic Scotch Ale style dating back to the 1700’s, with a deep reddish brown color. Full of body, sweetness and flavor. Higher in alcohol content but possessing a smooth and lightly hopped finish. Best served at 45 degrees F in a room temperature pint glass. For the ’Big Beer’ drinkers among us.

Sampled at Dutch 70’s "Tasting in the Woods; Part Deux". Dark clear red with an off-white head. Overall a very light aroma of grass and caramel. Flavor has notes of caramel, light noble hops, a hint of chocolate, brown sugar and light smoke. Medium bodied with subtle carbonation. Solid but is seems to be missing something, perhaps a little more malty heft.

TITW Part Deux - 12oz bottle courtesy of artusory. Thanks, Ryan! Medium brownish-red appearance; off-white head; ok lacing. Floral and citrus hop aroma. Tea-like malt presence, some floral hoppiness, light-to-medium mouthfeel. Medium finish, showing maple syrup; slightly dry.

Bottle... TITW Part Deux... Light brown ale with a small, creamy, khaki head. Good retention. The aroma is sweet and nutty with nice notes of chocolate and vanilla. Just a hint of wood. A little too bitter for a Scottish ale, but still solid and malty-sweet. Medium-bodied and creamy with soft carbonation. Finishes bittersweet with a crisp, hop bite. Thanks go out to artusory for sharing the bottle with us!

Thanks jpm30 for this simple bottle of great fresh scotch style. Thick dark brown foam and lace. Taste of light smoke and tabacco, well hopped, nicely malted. Full mouthfeel. Whatever the alcohol, its well hidden.

UPDATED: SEP 29, 2012 At least at the time I’m rating this it has a score of 3.55 and a Style % at 97.1. That doesn’t make sense to me. I would have thought, for sure, that there are a lot better scottish ales out there. There is a poignant smokey moment up front with a generally acceptable level of sweetness (I like ’em sweet so this could be even more) and some caramel base. But the presence of a notable metallic note diminished the enjoyment, with a lingering bitterness. Original rating: 7-3-5-3-11 in 2006 bottle // Re-rated: dense, lasting white head on a dark amber body. Grassy aroma. Fruity--strawberry, cherry--esp. aroma. Sweet with a slightly smoky note. Frothy-ish but lightly astringent, too. 6-4-7-3-13, 2012 (tap at Old Fashioned, Madison): merged ratings to an average.

Pours a cloudy deep amber with a thin white head. Aroma is diacetyl with a candi-sugar sweetness and friuty esters. Lots of thick sweet caramel malts, toasted malts, and hints of fruits and chocolate in the flavor with a bit more butterscotch. Finishes with a bit of astringency.

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2007 Much better than the 3 Floyd’s scottish ale, which seems bland in comparison to Warp Speed. Not as good as dirty bastard. Nice roasty coffee note. I want to try LL reserve scotch ale!!

Dark brown with a big bubbled head. Aroma is rum soaked dried fruits. Taste is nice and roasty with some cola and coffee. Decent stuff but not too terribly exciting.

12 oz bottle. Deep brown in color with a nice off white head that left a nice lacing on the glass. Fruity malty roasty chocolatety aroma. Raisiny woody notes. Malty caramel flavor. Nice smokey peaty notes. Medium bodied. Nutty. Smooth. Finish is malty. Very drinkable. Nice.
