Nose of malt and alcohol. Very malty sweet flavor. Way too much malt for me. Pours reddish brown in color. Had in Madison

Pours coffee colored with half inch of cream colored foam. Nose has notes of caramel, coffee, malt, oak, and spices. Palate is silky with slight effervescence in the mouth with a strong finish. Taste is pleasant with notes of chocolate, coffee, finishing strong with oaked bourbon. This is a great beer that can appeal to a wide variety of enthusiasts.

Bottle from Woodmans in the Falls. Pours amber colored with a bit of a head. Nose is all berries and heavy malts. Some earth. Taste is of sweet toffee, lotta earth, light berry and some peat. Medium to full bodied with alcohol. Finishes heavy and sweet, with earth. Shrug? Could be old, could be the style, or could just be not very good. 11.8

pours a rich ruby reddish brown with a frothy beige head. sweet aroma of malt and fruit. Taste is slightly sweet with a hint of bitter on the finish. A hint of strawberry? Tasty and easy drinking. Good beer!

Kind of tastes like puke, sour, and definitely not like any Scotch Ale I’ve ever had.

Very enjoyable. My 1st Louie but certainly not my last. Like the style. Nice head, aroma and finish.

"nice full feel. big and smooth. fruity and malty, though a little short on smoke and aroma. overall, a little bit of a pleasant surprise. thanks John. 2nd time lots of astringency. Gotta doc it a tenth."

Opaque dark, red brown color with an ample tan head. Smells of lightly spiced honey, some barnyard earthiness. Some light cereal, bready notes. Mainly sweet, but a lingering tinge of almost sourness, bitterness. Alcohol is reasonably present, medium to full bodied with some oiliness. Lighter carbonation. Pretty interesting beer, quite well done.

A big beer. Pours dark reddish brown with a lasting light tan head. Rich, malty, peaty flavor. Gets more flavorful as it warms up.
