No doubt thus is a strong ale to rejuvenate yourself after a strong climb. Sweet and almost maple syrupy in the nose, and the flavor matches this impreasion well, with a good touch of rauchbier leathery smoke. It tastes really good as a reault, I think this is the best "scotch ale" I?ve had, perhaps becuase its so unusual for thar fictitious (american) category. A bit heavy in the mouth, as befitting its title and its 8.0 abv. This is a solid beer. Unclear whether there’s actually smoke in this or whether the malt is simply peaty roasted to perfection. Pouring at TAP NY. Pours a caramel and copper color with a medium tanned beige head. Soft hints of smoke, toast, sweet malt. Sweet and toasty, medium to thick body. Lots of toast as the smoke fades away, moving to more chewy malt.
