This is a beer with a great aroma and a wonderful finish. Pours nicely with a great looking head. A roasted, maybe somewhat chocolate flavor with a little bit of hops at the end. whoisjamesearl (2) - New York, USA - OCT 12, 2012 does not count
Tasty tasty tasty. Love this brewery, love this beer. Named after a Chocolate Labrador, nuff said. doublebock (558) - California, USA - JAN 4, 2007
Deep amber/Maroon appearance. Very little head and carbonation. Initial taste pleasant and heavy maltiness and then an almost Belgian Gueze like sourness emerges. Extremely unique and wonderful taste. davidm (2081) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - JAN 11, 2011
On tap. Great, it feels like a stout. Aromas of milky chocolate, caramel, and nuts. Taste is sweet, with good length, and bitter notes. Palate is creamy, with a medium body. Dark brown, with a frothy head. JahNoth (1039) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAY 16, 2003
Nice sour apple malt aroma, beautiful, rich amber color, enough head to keep you interested. Nice roasty malt flavor with a good kick of bitterness to make it interesting. I am glad I made this my #200, because it is a very tasty ale.

Really impressed with this malty English Ale. Nice amber color with a full, malty aroma. The hops give it a nice presence in the mouth, but this beer isn’t all about the hops. The quality malts are what really deliver this beer. They blend so well with the alcohol that you really don’t notice it’s a 7%er. I can’t recommend this enough. basspro76 (426) - New York, USA - FEB 18, 2010
Picked up a 6 pack at a local beer distributor. Almost like a lightweight stout, this beer has a deep chocolaty smokey flavor. Goes down effortlessly with little to no aftertaste. A unique and delicious beer. AmyGinger (43) - USA - FEB 21, 2010
Not a big fan of most Placid brews but love Ubu. Great flavor, great on the palate. Just not the best appearance in my opinion pubscout (30) - Perth Amboy, New Jersey, USA - APR 1, 2005
I got tipped to this beer while visiting my local liquor locker, and great tip it was, too. beautiful, deep garnet color, wonderful nose and very nice mouthfeel combine to make this a worthy addition to your stash.
Malty and rich-tasting, it could easily serve as a session beer, but enjoyed it with my dinner of meat loaf and
potatoes smothered with brown gravy and onions. First LP beer I’ve tried--at least as far as I can remember--and it’s a winner in my book. lowgun1212 (109) - Carlstadt, New Jersey, USA - MAR 25, 2009
