Tap at Dubh Linn Pub. Struggled through this one. Lots of grass/wheat, not enough yeast. Really wasn’t very good.

12 oz. bottle, consumed on 8-1-13. Unique smell features champagne, tobacco, caramel-flavored popcorn, and salt scents. Pours a rosy, dark straw color. I consumed this via multiple pours into a small glass. The initial pour was mostly clear but slightly cloudy with many bubbles. The final pour was pretty cloudy. Nearly white head. Interesting appearance overall. Slightly tangy but mostly sweet taste features caramel popcorn (as the aroma does) and peach elements. Easy to drink. Light to medium body. Frothy and flemmy in the palate.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden orange color with white head. Clove, bubblegum, yeasty aromas. Wheat, yeast, bubblegum flavors. Tastes a little weird, kinda like one of my homebrews. I’ll pass.

Cloudy orange with fluffy white head. Fruity, spicy aroma. Taste is sweet, fruity and even a bit tangy. Notes of banana, clove, cinnamon, tropical fruit and maybe some clover honey. Light creamy texture. Solid Hef. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Not too impressive - very thin, highly carbonated, and a bit metallic late. Aroma has slight banana but mostly vegetal.

12oz bottle picked up in Duluth. Slightly hazy orange-tan, thin, dissipating head. Unimpressive aroma, some off garbage tones easily getting through the yeast. Slightly pungent and sour, this is a really weak offering. Tastes more like an American Wheat than a German. Really crappy stuff, pretty shabby for such a forgiving style. Avoid.

Couldn’t put my finger on the unique flavor in this one, but it’s like a banana sweetness. Somewhat of a acidic/metallic taste at the end.

(bottle) Big thanks go to Skyview for clarifying where this beer should be entered. This is a re-labeling of Windward Wheat. Pours a vibrant and hazy gold color with a medium head that retains well and leaves solid lacing. Aroma just explodes out of the glass, and is very banana heavy. This smells like an overripe speckled banana, with twinges of vanilla and bread. The bread element naturally yields a banana bread scent. There’s a little bit of spice here too, but it just sits in the background. Takes on a drier, more wheat-heavy edge with warming. The flavor does not disappoint, and is filled with banana, vanilla, baked apple, light cinnamon, followed by a clove kick and drying wheat on the finish. Really nice sharp contrast that prevents this from being too cloying, but it also refrains from being entirely dominated by the tart and dry wheat. It does waver just a bit in the finish (gets a tad bit of mineral flavor), and if it hadn’t wavered, I would’ve awarded this a 5 on palate, because the beer is appropriately chewy and creamy, and the lively carbonation maintains the lightness required of the style. Overall this is a very pleasant surprise, as I rarely come across hefes of this caliber. I love the style, but I had low expectations for this beer even though LS can brew some good offerings (see Old Man Winter Warmer). However, this beer far and away exceeded my expectations going in. This is reminiscent of a Dancing Man Jr., and I will be purchasing this often in the foreseeable future. Kudos to the brewer for deftly and successfully constructing a beer in a style where so many others fail.

Thanks to skyview for sharing. Light lemonade color with a faint wheat aroma. Similarly light body. Thanks to Skyview for sharing.

This one is barely a hefeweizen. Quite light overall. Light wheat aroma and light wheat flavor with minimal bubblegum and only a touch of citrus. Cloudy but no sediment.
