Stout dark with a thin caramel colored head. Vanilla, chocolate, a bit fruity. Pretty good stuff.

This one is a keeper. Pours dark black. Pencil thin head. Settles into unbelievable mouth full of cherry, vanilla, cocoa . Better and smoother as it warms. If you are lucky enough to find this gem buy it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a lot of bitter dark grains with coffee and a touch of tobacco. Flavor is similarly bitter with roasted malts, coffee and bitter chocolate with a hint of sweet dark grains underlying.

Date is smudged, but it was bottled in 2012 at some point.
Appearance: The body is pitch black, just how I like my imperial stouts, but there is only a very very thin brown head despite a hard pout. The retention is poor, leaving only a thin ring and very sparse coating.
Aroma: Chocolate and sweet cherries are noticeable, backed by vanilla. This smells like a vanilla cherry soft drink in a way, except with chocolate. The aroma is certainly sweet, I enjoy it.
Taste: Chocolate and cherry are right away on the intro coming off sweet with the cherry flavor coming off a bit like a Tootsie Pop. Vanilla comes in during the mid-taste with the cherry flavor getting a tad stronger, while a touch of roasted malts presents itself by the finish. This is a nice blend of vanilla, chocolate and cherry.
Palate: Medium to thick and syrupy, light carbonation.
Overall: I like this beer, though I feel it’s suffering from two things: time and lack of carbonation. This beer is at least 6 months old so the vanilla has faded, for better or worse, and even so the cherry comes off a bit cloying despite not being overly prominent. The beer is also lacking in carbonation, which is hurting things.

Fulton Grand, NY tap ($6): Pours black with a very wee head. Aroma is milk chocolate, a little bit of booze, and weakly roasted malts. Taste actually has the cherry somewhat pronounced. Nice taste of vanilla. Body is sort of weak and perhaps either not viscous or carbonated enough. Still it was pleasant enough to drink.

Pitch black with a brown-almost red colored head. Has an aroma of rum raisin, chocolate, vanilla, and cocoa. Flavor is vanilla and chocolate upfront, followed by a raisin and cherry finish with a slight alcoholic aftertaste. Body is fairly light and the carbonation is very mild. Good but boozy taste. The body is a bit watery though that does not affect the taste. As an Imperial Stout, it’s fairly middle of the road

Pretty good stout. Strong cherry nose, some underlying cocoa. Didnt taste the vanilla.

charule (2277) - New York, New York, USA - MAY 13, 2013
Draught at Three Aces. Poured black with wispy brown head. Pleasant aromas of chocolate and booze. Quite smooth and not bitter almost sweet with cherries. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Cybercat (5959) - Georgia, USA - MAY 10, 2013
Comes out of the bottle a rich, warm sable with a thick and fairly persistent dark tan head. Smoky aroma has firm tones of quality coffee, semi-sweet chocolate, burnt hops and licorice. Flavor delights with notes of chocolate, coffee, roast malt, caramel and licorice plus subtle earthy and nutty hints. It is a bit sweet, but not cloying. Thick, smooth texture is none too fizzy, but still leaves a nice tingle. Very satisfying and lip-smacking. Grab a few since this is a limited edition.

gripweed57 (2719) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - MAY 8, 2013
12 ounce bottle. Opaque black liquid topped by a small tan head that dissipates very quickly. Aroma of rich roasted malt, chocolate liqueur and dark cherries. Intense bittersweet dark chocolate flavor with notes of sour cherries and port wine. A nice sipping beer that has a smoothness and mild complexity. Finish is somewhat dry and bitter with peppery notes.
