Smelled and tasted quite like a ginger bread cookie soaked in rum. The alcohol came rushing in the middle and just stayed there knocking all others off. Cornfield (5570) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - SEP 8, 2005
Somehow, Lakefront managed to get malt, honey, orange, and spices blended to have an aroma that’s a ringer for egg nog. Dark orange in color, this has a well sustained, creamy beige head. The flavors become more indiviually distinguishable in the taste. Caramel malt, nutmeg, ginger, nuts, white peppers, and a hint of orange skillfully melded into an enjoyable drink. I didn’t realize this was as potent as it is until now, but it helps explain my behavior later in the night.maniac (3800) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - NOV 29, 2006

Sampled at the Richmond Beer Industry Gathering 2006. Clear dark amber body with a small white head. Sweet spiced aroma. Strong spiced flavor with some light apples in the end. BeerBelcher (972) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JAN 20, 2007
Some brewers make "big" beers with over-powering hop, others with tons of maltiness; this beer overpowers you with spice. I might describe this as a "Yule Tide," but a tide that would pull you out to sea with its overabundance of spiciness. It is probably the spiciest beer I’ve had and I’m having a really hard deciding whether or not I liked it.
This beer poured a dirty, hazy-brown with some head. Aroma was very powerful spiciness; I caught nutmeg and my wife identified cinammon and we both were reminded of pumpkin pie.
Taste was an alcohol-spice infusion. It was novel and a bit punishing at the same time. Mouthfeel was thick, and combined with all the spice, I would not say this beer is very drinkable; yet it is very festive.
I would recommend you it, based purely on its polarizing nature. GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - NOV 21, 2008
Bottle. Poured a clear dark orange brown color with a fizzy off white head. Smelled of brown sugar, cranberry, orange, and clove. Medium bodied and dry with burning raw alcohol. Moderately carbonated with mild bitterness. Orange liqueur and clove flavors predominated.

Pours clear dark burgundy with a thick tan head. The aroma is heavy on the spices (seems like nutmeg and a bit of allspice), toasty malt and a hint of sweetness. Medium grainy body with some medium intensity carbonation. The taste starts with toasted malt, then an absolute onslaught of spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamon) and is quite dry. The finish is overbearing with spice with a bit of sweetness and orange peel showing through. This would be better if the spices weren’t so overwhelming. nick76 (4399) - Tampa, Florida, USA - NOV 20, 2011
The aroma is very spicy with caramel malt and citrus. The appearance is deep red amber with an average head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall this is a worthy holiday beer. jcwattsrugger (12420) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - DEC 15, 2011
12oz bottle-pours a rich tan head with copper color. Aroma is spice, sweet medium malt-toffee. Taste is spice hops, sweet medium malt-toffee/some cocoa, alcohol. obisbeer (568) - Barcelona, SPAIN - NOV 26, 2004
Nice rich brown with thick white head. Nose of clove, cinnanmon, and malt. Heavey mouthfeel with sweet mid palate and drying spicey finish. Flavors of malt, clove, orange spice, cinnamon, malt and honey like vanilla. Not bad though almost overdone. TURDFERGUSON (4058) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - FEB 19, 2007
Bonus bottle from Hopscotch. Thanks Eric! Poured a big amber with a huge, 2 inch thick gargantuan off white head. that shows no sign of fading soon. Aroma is very sweet ( i can smell it from a foot away) with lot of spices, honey, nutmeg. Head hasnt moved a 1/4 of an inch. Tastes almost like a cold, alcoholic mulled cider with spices, though the high abv is not particularly noticeable. I usually hate this style. This is a well made spiced beer, bit still, I just dont dig it. A little overcarbonated and a bit of an icky palate.
