Timed to coincide with the holiday season, a very special lager is brewed with honey, oranges, and spices. This beer uses two pounds of honey per pound of malt in its brew, making it an exceptional fortified holiday specialty beer which will keep for years. The spices and hops balance the sweetness of the honey and malt to give this lightly hopped beer its perfect flavor.
Alcohol ABV varies from 9.5% to 11% each year

12 oz bottle. Immediate spice aroma. Taste is a ginger/orange flourish, surprisingly flavorful, but not overbearing. "Wow, this goes down easy!" as a friend put it.

Well this year it says 13.5%. On tap at wexford pub, spices and egg nog, whiskey and lemon. Great dull golden beer. No lacing or head of course.

zoucrew102 (2235) - - JAN 17, 2016
Bomber. Heavy spice aroma that includes ginger, nutmeg, clove and cinnamon as well as caramel, honey and light orange citrus. Pours caramel colored with a slight red hue and one finger of tan head with good retention and some lace. Starts with a lot caramel sweetness as well as some honey sweet as well. Finishes smooth with all of the aforementioned spices as well as a bit of orange. Not bad, but there seems to be too much going on here and flavors kind of get lost in each other.

arkurzynski (2460) - Combined Locks, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 10, 2016
Brown with amber red highlights. Nose of gingerbread, allspice, some dark cherry and dark fruits. Flavor is spicy and boozy with more allspice, cinnamon, and tart dark fruit. A bit slick. Lingering tartness and mild spice. Something off a slight bit in the finish. I think an ale yeast probably would have benefited this style.

Hotel room breakfast tasting with Jack & Leighton, Hilton Tampa, 22/02/15. Chestnut brown with a decent beige covering. Nose is dark malt, toffee, figs, spice, clove, light nana. Taste comprises butterscotch, banoffee pie, fudge, sticky toffee, clove, light smoke, sweet and sour notes. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok for style I guess but considering the ABV this is a let down.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/29/2014. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep ruby red color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big caramel, brown sugar, honey, toast, brown bread, plum, fig, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove, and herbal/spice earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, spices, and dark fruit notes; with good strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, honey, toast, brown bread, plum, fig, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, and herbal/spice earthiness. Slight spice bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, honey, toast, brown bread, plum, fig, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and herbal/spice earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and robustness of dark/bready malt, spices, and dark fruit flavors; with a great malt/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, fairly creamy, and lightly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a small-moderate warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent winter spiced ale. All around great robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malt, spices, and dark fruit flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

12oz bottle from Wine Academy. Poured a clear rusty reddish amber with a smaller foamy off white head. Aroma is odd, salty ketchup to start, vanilla, Christmas spices(nutmeg, cinnamon, all-spice), dough and raisins. Body is medium overall with average carbonation and a super well hidden ABV considering I drank this one just barely chilled. Flavor is more grainy and bready with no ketchup notes at all. Other notes are vanilla bread with nutmeg and all-spice and almost a hint of anise. Interesting beer.

Boozy, honey, spices. After two you start forgetting how dysfunctional your family really is. It's perfectly paired for dysfunction. If I could rate that, it would be 11 on a 10 scale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Dark brown with a thin off white head. Aroma is ginger and clove. Taste adds a hint of orange and honey. Rich mouthfeel and light carb. Would be nice if the ginger wasn't so prominent but not bad.

MaltOne (408) - Wisconsin, USA - DEC 29, 2014
Pours clear light chestnut, with brief whitisk head. Sweet spice aroma. Flavor is pumpkin pie spice, light licorice/anise, vanilla. Palate is unctuous, sweet, a hint of hops in the finish. Overall, nice seasonal, above average spiced xnas brew.

Julie says hmmm most be alcohol content warm and thicker nicer malt unsure if she likes the spice it gets a 3.0 ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
