22 ounce bottle pours a dark black color, aromas of grapefruit, coffee grounds, burnt malt. Flavors are the same, not a big black ipa fan ok overall. TheBeerOrg (2145) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - FEB 11, 2012
Pours reddish brown with a thin wispy tan head. Notes of grapefruit, citrus resins, caramelized wort, soapy chocolate. Full bodied, resinous with lively carbonation. SudsMcDuff (8541) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - FEB 6, 2012
big bottle, 22oz.. . pours a deep brown .. middle foam, good lacing .. . light roast, pine, and really burnt sugar .. . an ok beer, but middle of the road i’m afraid .. . . Well sorry Mr. First to Show Inappropriate Anger on Mars. dionysus (1486) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 2, 2012
Thirsty Troll Brew Fest. Pour is deep brown/black with a tan head. Aroma shows notes of cocoa powder, coffee, light roast, and pine resin. Flavor shows caramel and floral hops. Overall body is light to moderate and
finishes with light bitterness. The aroma and taste almost seem like two totally different beers. Strange. Ibrew2or3 (8912) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - FEB 1, 2012
Bomber pours dark brown to dark mahogany with semi loose two minute mocha head. The aroma offers up some dark roasted malts, moderately roasted coffee beans, some pine hops and some earthiness that lack a bit of depth and richness that seems typical of the style. The taste is similar with dark roasted malts and modest coffee notes mixing with a blend of spicy hops, floral hops and a slight pine like resiny hoppiness. Pretty moderately bold black IPA that isn’t as rich and chewy as others but will work well when something a little cleaner and slightly lighter is needed.

Pours a thick black with thin off white head. Aroma is hoppy. Was the best IBA in the dairy state.... until New Glarus Black Top entered the ring. msante79 (2244) - Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA - JAN 28, 2012
Bomber from Friar Tuck-Springfield. Pours hazy dark brown with some sediment and light tan head. Aromas of a shit load of sweet malt, caramel, some pine, and light citrus. Flavors of some roast, coffee, cocoa, and some hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is a little thin. Really don’t care for the aroma, but I do like the flavor. Kind of a weird flavor for a black IPA with the coffee notes but it works for my palate. Poor example of the style in my opinion, but has some decent qualities. shrubber85 (11706) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - JAN 28, 2012
Bottle. Strong pine and mild caramel malt aroma. Dark black-brown color with large tan head. Slightly sweet caramel malt and rather subdued pine hops bitter flavor. Like this one - hops don’t come out as much in the flavor as the aroma. cmonster (1000) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 27, 2012
Bomber served in a tulip. Pours dark brown with amber hues and a really nice frothy head. Good lacing. Piney aroma with some sweetness and some roast. The palate is similar except the hops are more subdued. Medium body, decent carbonation, thinnish texture, and a balanced dry finish of roast and earthy hops. Almost like a hoppy porter. jcwattsrugger (12559) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - JAN 26, 2012
22oz bottle-pours mahogany with a tight tan head and heavy lacing. Aroma is roasty, then lots of resin/pine. Taste is roasty/cocoa-medium malt, 2nd pine hops. Soft carbonation.
