In the words of our President and founding father, Russ Klisch, "Klisch Pilsner is a meat and potatoes beer," meaning that though there are no darker specialty grains used to influence the color or texture of this beer, it is nonetheless a full-bodied satisfying all-malt brew. The recipe is simple, but how it is put together is what gives this beer its complexity. The deep golden color and malty flavor come from an ample amount of domestic malted barley and imported hops. The addition of Saaz hops added at the end of a two-hour boil gives the beer a wonderful balance with the accent on the hops.

Draft at brewery. Clear light to medium amber. Minimal white head. Aroma is light; malty, fruity sweet. Flavor is sweet, malty, sugar cereal, bready, fruity, yeast, wheat. Refreshing. Medium plus body. Finish is sweet, light dry. Smooth. Tasty. Flavorful. Maybe too sweet. Very easy to drink, just not that exciting.

Pours a hazy yellow with a nice head. Nice citrus and grass aromas. Should be having this in summer, as it is really refreshing.

DATE TASTED: November 30, 2013... GLASSWARE: standard pilsner...OCCASION: Game PSU’s finale a memorable one--well done, boys!... APPEARANCE: slight amber golden body that sports methodical bubbles; white two-finger head settles to a thin splash; zero lacing as the glass drains--not encouraging... AROMA: baker’s dough wafts pleasantly; some floral, fruity esters round out an otherwise nondescript presence... PALATE: smooth, bubbly and softly bodied for a lager--sessionable for sure, yet effeminate...TASTE: apple, pear and thin malts make for a lager with some flavor; rather underwhelming, considering its fellow beers in the mixpack...OVERALL: high expectations unmet, but perhaps not all brews from Lakefront will be flagship offerings...not a fitting celebratory glass for such a stunning upset as Penn State served Wisconsin...

Pours a light crisp golden with almost nonexistent head. Mild aroma of malt, hop, and farmhouse or hay. Flavor is mild sweet with a crisp refreshing finish. Good for what it is but nothing special. Pretty light body.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 11/14/13

Aroma: The aroma is on the lighter side with some cereal malts, grass, and a little citrus
Appearance: It pours a cloudy golden color with a creamy white head and plenty of lace
Flavor: The taste is clean and malty, similar to the nose, with a light sweetness and a light bitterness
Palate: The body is light but not watery, it has a clean feel, soft carbonation, and a clean finish
Overall Impression: This is a decent but not great beer. I didn’t love it, but I can certainly see it as a logical and perfectly drinkable option in certain situations.

More body and more citrus than usual. Hardly hoppy at all. Other than that, pretty standard. Not great but not unpleasant.

Draught [email protected] during brewery tour 23viii13. Grainy-sweet, pregnant with dry malt Pilsner with not much going on to salvage US grainy dry Pilsners.

Ed5388 (3488) - Forked River, New Jersey, USA - AUG 11, 2013
12oz bottle. Pours a clear golden yellow color with a thin fizzy white head. Aroma of bready malts and yeast. Taste of sweet grains and grass.

Looks like apple cider. Aroma is fruity. Tastes like cereal with too much carbonation. I love Lakefront but can’t say I would recommend this one.

chicowv (478) - Canaan Valley, West Virginia, USA - JUL 17, 2013
12 oz bottle: Pours slightly cloudy, nice head and good CO2. Too cloudy for a pilsner. Aroma is pretty bad. Leather, sour vegetables. Taste is salty and bitter with flavors of grass, sour/rotten fruit and not enough hop balance. Rough drinker due to bitter and sour finish. Not very good...
