Bottle. Rating #6. Interesting beer overall, seemed smokey to me, drinkable and pretty tasty after all’s said and done. (2095) mrjaxson (610) - .08 Junction, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 18, 2011
Hard to improve on the bottle’s description: Dan indeed has a chocolate aroma, malty sweetness, full body and hint of hops. Truth in advertising! It’s nice to see Lakefront borrowing a page from the playbook of fellow Wisconsin breweries like Tyranena and New Glarus and trying special editions. A minor discrepancy between the Ratebeer and bottle errata: Ratebeer has the alcohol as 6.5% and the bottle has it at 8.5%. May I volunteer to help determine the actual percentage? I’ve got an old chemistry set somewhere around here.... troopie (2386) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - DEC 17, 2011
Bottle. Black pour with thick head and lots of lacing. Coffee and malty aroma. ’N bietjie chocolote in the flavour, with more malt and some esteriness. Finish is roast malt. RickDagless (3) - Wisconsin, USA - DEC 17, 2011 does not count
Malty aroma, not a whole lot else going on.
The beer is dark with a tan, thick, lingering head.
The beer is bittersweet, some coffee and chocolate with an estery finish. Not as much hop presence as I expected. Alcohol isn’t noticeable.
Smooth mouthfeel, not a whole lot of carbonation
Overall, a good porter. I’d buy it again. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 11, 2011
bomber. Poured deep brown with a well-retained beige head. The aroma picked up sweet vanilla and butterscotch upfront, with vinous notes and date sweetness behind.. light-moderate roast, and a lot of sweetness.. more of a nice brown ale than a Baltic Porter. The flavor found sweet, lightly-roasted black patent and smoky malts at the core, with light mocha bitterness and more smoky notes around.. dry, scratchy, roasty finish. Medium-bodied at most on the palate.. seemed roastier as it warmed up.. not a great Baltic Porter, but an easy-drinkin’ brew.

Tap. Pours to a deep brown body with a thin off-white head. The aroma is chocolate brownies and charred black malts. Some dry earthy character and burnt leaves. The flavor is deep chocolate charred black malt with a light sweet chocolate syrup. The palate is dry and mouthwatering. Mediumfull bodied and pretty velvety.
