22 oz bottle Roths Sunnyslope Market in the bargain cart $1.99
I have no idea how this got there..never saw it on the beer aisle!
Typical Baltic black black body and rich bubbly tan head..nice.
Ah all the great malty, chewy, burnt aromas of a true Baltic superb.
Taste is much the same as the aroma..rich,toasty but with a bitter sweet dark fig/date fruitiness..lovely
Very nice smooth mouthfeel just the right amount of carbonation.
Very very nice Baltic..i have no idea how this came to be in the bargain basket in S.Salem but I am happy we found each other dionysus (1486) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAR 26, 2012
Bottle pours deep red/black with a rocky beige head. Aroma is sweet with notes of roast, dark chocolate, plum, anise, and a touch of vanilla. Flavor shows more roast than the nose let on, almost approaching smokey, with underlying dark fruit as well as some coffee. Overall body is moderate, creamy and finishes with a nice roasted bitterness. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - APR 17, 2012
22oz bottle: Pours a mostly opaque black with a spotty-lacing beige head. Has a rich sweet dark caramel nose with some light roast, chocolate and plum notes. Starts with good fullness and chewy sweet dark malt with some dark fruity complexity and mild piny hop flavor and bitter balance. Finishes slightly drier, but still semi-sweet, with good dark chocolate character. True to style and quite enjoyable. Drake (13652) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 24, 2012
Bomber shared at the 18th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering. This was a killer extra from Ghostface. Thanks! Pours a clear red-brown color with a medium sized frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of chocolate, raisin and toasted malts. The taste is raisin, chocolate, nuts and bitter hops. Medium bodied, creamy, smooth, average carbonation, low bitterness. Very nice beer, and not just because it has my name on it...

Hard to improve on the bottle’s description: Dan indeed has a chocolate aroma, malty sweetness, full body and hint of hops. Truth in advertising! It’s nice to see Lakefront borrowing a page from the playbook of fellow Wisconsin breweries like Tyranena and New Glarus and trying special editions. A minor discrepancy between the Ratebeer and bottle errata: Ratebeer has the alcohol as 6.5% and the bottle has it at 8.5%. May I volunteer to help determine the actual percentage? I’ve got an old chemistry set somewhere around here.... raphael (1240) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 1, 2012
okay, since my name is Dan I was drawn, but I had been thinking about Baltic porters, & this had a nice price. aromas--cocoa, wood chips, dark roast, alcohol, wheat toast. flavors--dark chocolate, milk chocolate, licorice. can’t see through dark brown with a creamy dark tan head. neither too thin or too thick. esjaygee (3904) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 19, 2012
Black with a large brown head that patiently fades leaving lace in its wake. Aroma of dark roasted malts, toffee, molasses, mild chocolate and a hint of nuts. Taste of chocolate, molasses, alcohol, dark roasted malts, sugar, dark fruits and a touch of nuts. Finishes up a touch dry. Pretty solid effort. bhensonb (15094) - Woodland, California, USA - JUN 17, 2012
Bomber shared by Marcus. Pours black with a creamy tan head. Aromas of dill, chocolate and coffee. Full bodied. Hint of smoke. Otherwise flavor per aroma. Smooth with just a bit of head. Finishes approaching dry. twindadplus2 (709) - Wisconsin, USA - SEP 14, 2012
Bottle. Deep brown color with a tall tan head. Dark roasted coffee and malt aroma. Same rich, roasty aroma but with a bittersweet backbone to brighten it up. Full bodied and smooth with a light bitter finish. Very nice porter indeed.
