Bomber poured a hazy orange amber with a lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of fruittiness, straw, light toasted malt and light smoke. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of straw, earthiness, smoke and light fruittiness with a crisp lingering lightly smoked finish. crossovert (13078) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 15, 2012
Awesome. Not the best smoky rauchbier but for an Americna brewery not bad. Make it a regular! rosenbergh (11591) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAY 1, 2015

Bottle. Orange-tinted gold with an average white head. Aroma is equal biscuity malt and light smoke. Clean cereal malt flavours allow the rather subtle meaty smoke character to shine without overpowering. Nicely nuanced, tasty. arminjewell (9688) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - DEC 19, 2012
Pour out of 22 oz bottle, clear orange pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of some caramel, toffee, slight cherrywood smoke, bacon, hints of earth, spice, vanilla, very campfire-like. Taste is a mix of wood smoke, earth, campfire, some bacon, hints of vanilla, finishing fairly dry, slightly sweet, smoky. This is a nicely made brew. bb (9519) - Alamo, California, USA - JUL 30, 2013
Bottle. Amber beer with a cream head. Caramel and light smoke aroma with light bacon. Malt and smoke flavor with light grassiness. Medium bodied. Malt and light caramel linger with light smoke and light grass. blipp (9373) - La Mesa, California, USA - SEP 20, 2013
Bottle. Pours gold with a white head. Lightly smoked and sweet malts. Very clean finish. Appropriately low bitterness and good balance throughout. Lighter notes of grain, bread, and caraway. This is a very solid helles rauchbier. Lots of very competent craft brewers churn out awful lagers, but this one is pretty good. 3fourths (9349) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - APR 7, 2013
bottle. lightly hazed amber orange body with a small white head, short retention, no lacing, light effervescence. mild nose of clover honey malt, no hop aroma, smoked malt comes across as honey-glazed smoked ham with a bit of a roasted cashew smell. some smells and gulps there are traces of grape-flavored gum, powder and all. may be some esters, may just be the malt. sweet taste, medium body, low, round, full carbonation, but the malt drags on the tongue a little bit; a little harsh and a little too sludgy, something I see more often in American lagers than German. faint lingering traces of honey and ham in the finish turn to buttered corn rice cakes and twangy sweet-n-low. thankfully it has a clean profile, no major fermentation flaws, only a small bit of flint and charcoal but that could be from the smoked malt, and it’s very faint. as a whole it just doesn’t integrate well or create depth or intrigue. it’s a decent beer, just a simple one.
