Poured a nice dark golden color I to a snifter. Aroma hits you with a ton of malts followed by biscuits, toffee and even some grapefruit. Tastes is a huge malt bomb up front with some caramel and toffee. It’s then followed by some bitter fruit and finishes with the 12.5% alcohol you would expect. Mouthfeel is incredible with soft carbonation allowing this to be very smooth. Will be nice once the maltiness and alcohol heat has a chance to mellow after a few years!
Bottle. It poured a dark red color with a tan head. The aroma was of toffee, fruits and some caramel. The taste was similar to the aroma with more toffee, fruit, caramel and a hint of hops. Nice. djd07 (15541) - Houston, Texas, USA - MAR 10, 2015

Poured from a 22 ounce bomber. The aroma is burnt sugars, died fruits, slight pine hop note. The flavor is burnt sugars, fruity alcohol notes, bready, caramel, light earthy/pine hop character. There is a warming alcohol quality with this beer.

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2015 Smells of raisin, fig, dark fruits, booze - almost like a Belgian beer but the hops at the end take it in a different direction. Pours a beautiful reddish brown color with a tan head that leaves a ton of lacing. Tastes like sweet malt and dark fruit followed by moderate hops and an alcohol warmth. Like a lot of other barleywines I have tried, only bigger. Some reviewers may not like how boozy this beer tastes, but if you’re buying 12.5%, you shouldn’t hate alcohol so much. Palate is slick and full; each taste stays with you for a while. Highly recommend this one. It was $5.49 at Friar Tuck, I bought one for now and one for the cellar.

Pour is a murky brown with a very small tan head. Aroma is brown sugar, toffee, dark fruit and alcohol. Flavor is caramel, toffee, sweet malt and even some wood smoke. Mouthfeel is super thick and heavy but that only helps sipping this powerful beer. Alcohol is there but not in a big way. Finish is brown sugar and plum. This was a very nice barley wine. Full of flavor,very thick and warming.
