I was surprised to find this at Frog Bear Wild Boar, a bar/club not really known for the beer selection. Amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is almost spicy enough to make your eyes water. Ginger absolutely dominates, with a little pumpkin and malt crying for attention. This was a little hard to drink because of how robust the spicy flavor was. I would have welcomed more hops or malt to balance out the spice assault. Dry finish. An interesting attempt but not something I am going to search out again.

Yes it does taste like pumpkin but I'm not so sure that pumpkin is a good flavor for a beer. There is just something weird about it. However the spices were nice. Good nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice flavor.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2003 Orange-amber color, coarse, dissipating head. Aroma of cinammon. Decent body, flavors of cinammon. Not as heavy on the cinammon as "Buffalo Bill's", but it's still way too much and doesn't allow the subtle pumpkin flavor to come through. Not a compliment to Lakefront's time-tested and smooth lager.

Update: After reading the other ratings here, I can't believe I'm drinking the same beer. Hardly a mention of cinammon. Maybe their recipe is less than precise or this year's cinammon is unusually potent.

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2004 Light amber color with a small white head. Strong cinnamon aroma. Flavor of cinnamon, other spices and a little pumpkin. Pretty watery.

Pleasant pumpkin pie spice aroma with some Christmas spice and cinnamon in there as well - quite nice - mostly downhill after that. Light off white head sits atop the light copper pour with some floaties speckled about. Flavor has a brief pumpkin pie spice splash, but settles to a bland vegetable like flavor. Has a bit of pepper in there as well and as it warms, tastes similar to spiked hot cider. The aftertaste is not unlike some malt liquors - slighlty fusel alcohol-like. Started with high possibilities.

Orange color with a white head...nothing too impressive. Strong pumpkin and clove aroma with some pepper, nutmeg and ketchup? Bready flavor as well as the obvious pumpkin and sweet malt with a dry finish.

Found this rating in my phone from who know’s when. Orangish brown pour w/ a small off white head and weak lace. Smells of some bread, weak pumkin pie, clove, & cinnamon. Palate is ok, very avg. Flavor is sweet generic pumkin pie filling and hitns of spice and grain. Not very good.

Bottled 10/05. Poured a clear medium caramel with a rather well-retained cap of off-white head. Nose was of baked pumpkin, nutmeg, and an unidentifiable sourness... decent. Flavor was pumpkin-based, with brown sugar, cinnamon, an odd sour and tangy metallic twang to it. Tacky on the front of the palate, watery across the middle, and tacky again at the finish... odd feel to it. OK pumpkin with a solid (not overbearing) spice complement.

Bottle. Small fizzy white head that mostly diminished, very little lacing, hazy, carbonation observed, and a golden and pale yellow hue. Nose was pumpkin, sweet, subtle hops, spicy, and cinammon. Ditto for the flavor plus some clove and finishes dry. Fairly smooth, slightly tingly and dry mouthfeel. Light-medium body. Quaffable, but nothing to write home about IMO. Balanced and not over-the-top pumpkin tasting as others that I’ve had, but the flavor of this beer just didn’t leave me wanting more.

Pours a dark orangeish colour with a full generous off white head. Aroma is strong of pumpkin pie, butternut squash and apples. Mouthfeel is light, but creamy. Body is well carbonated, taste is decent, obviously pumpkin infused but not too rich in the taste.
