The aroma is weak but has toasted malt, dark fruit, and light hops. The appearance is orange gold with a small head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is average. Overall this is good. jeff789 (1423) - West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 4, 2012
Hazy amber orangish color medium tan head lingers a bit some mild lacing... Notes of orange and sweet malts in the aroma... Aroma and flavor don’t match at all... Boring borderline sweet mess malty... Fairly spicy with a mild hint of pepper... Medium to medium full bodied reggiedunlop (3726) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 4, 2012
Pours a hazy orange amber with a medium tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty...caramel and wheaty notes...yeasty with faint candied fruits. Flavor is much more bitter than expected...still some yeastiness and faint fruity/sweet maltiness. Mouthfeel is medium with a muddled fruity/malty/bitter finish. Aroma: The nose has some grassy notes, hints of fruit, toast, pepper, and other spices
Appearance: It pours a hazy golden-orange color with an off-white head and spotty lace
Flavor: The taste is light-medium sweet, some fruity notes, yeast/toast and spice flavors mostly
Palate: The body is light-medium, with a fairly soft mouthfeel that has a light stickiness to it
I thought this was a rather solid and drinkable Biere de Garde. All of the components are well-enough made, though they are all pretty subtle. Still though, I thought this one was pretty successful, and it made for a rather drinkable offering. Had the ABV been low enough, this could easily have been a nice session beer, which speaks pretty well to how well-hidden the alcohol is in this one. I enjoyed this one.
Bottle. Rich amber beer with a dark cream colored head. Malt and earth aroma with yeast and red fruit. Malt and red fruit flavor with earthiness. Medium bodied. Red fruit and light caramel lingers with earth and light spice.
