I was blown away by this. Was planning on ordering a Duchesse du Bourgogne at the Malt House in Madison (at twice the price), but after a sample of the Rosie turned out to be a bracing, tart, woody, piercing spectacle, ordered a full pour. It got better sip by sip. It is really refreshing and up-your-snout sourly lively, the fruit is gentle and not overwhelming, and the finish is amazingly both pungent and long. Nice texture, a bit of funk, but basically both smooth and also assertive - - if Belgians had front porches, this is what they would be sitting on their front porches drinking- - unfortunately for them, it is made in Milwaukee. After the 25-minute drive home I could still taste it. I am not more than just a little bit amazed (I usually never buy in Lakefront beers, them just being kind of OK mostly) - - and for $3 on tap I am truly pinching myself.

Unclear medium red orange colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy tart cherry, cherry, wood. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light acidic with a average to long duration, cherry - tart, sweet cherry, wood - oak. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is fizzy.
Cask at DotLA. Was told that this was a flanders red with cherries in the cask, as evidenced by the cherries that poured out when we cleaned out the casks afterward. Pours a deep reddish brown with a fizzy head. The nose is tart, cherry notes and lactic acid. Some light funk but mostly cleaner than Bretty. On tasting, noticeable crystal notes lending a light metallic caramel quality. More acidity on the palate and a bit sweet. Not really vinegar but just okay overall. Worth trying but maybe not twice... joergen (28142) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - FEB 4, 2012
