355ml can pours a pale golden color with a fast dissipating white head that leaves no lacing. Aroma is light cereal grains and light grassy hops. Taste is light malty sweetness and moderate hop bitterness. Light to medium body and average carbonation. Just another macro swill, of which I have tried too many of. Originally rated June 2006. This one pours a golden colour without the copper hue of the Lakeport Ice (that I just finished). White head that is bigger and leaves much more lace, all around the glass and quite thick. Same heavy carbonation. At first, the nose is grainy with slight sourness, but then, the alcohol comes out to haunt. Smooth watery mouthfeel. At least the alcohol is not present in the taste, and there are no burns. Mild corn taste with a little sweet finish that turns into a very light grainy aftertaste. Prefered the Ice over this one. The True North Strong is a better strong beer. Overall, I’ll take Lakeport products over Laker, for swill with just a tad of character. duckdown (82) - GTA, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 14, 2010
Cans and bottles readily available at my local beer store.
I guess it’s one of the better of the Lakeport choices (which isn’t saying anything really).. At least it gets you drunk I guess.
caramel, malt scent
golden white head, typical golden pilsner color
tastes a litle sweet, and bitter. nothing memorable but I guess it will do the job if you’re low on funds. GregClow (3402) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 13, 2009
Bottle from the LCBO. Pale bright golden with a medium white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is not unpleasant - mild malt, perhaps a bit of sweet corn, hell, even a hint of hops! Mouthfeel is a bit sticky, but not bad. Flavour - holy crap, is that sweet! Like someone took a mediocre pale lager and laced it with corn syrup. Which is sort of how this stuff is made, I guess. Not my drink of choice, but those looking for a cheap buzz could do much worse... Boutip (6526) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 27, 2008
Bottle: Poured a pale yellowlager with a goiod size foamy head with minimal retention and no lacing. Aroma consists of loads of adjunct. Taste is also dominated by adjunct with some gross sweetness and some alcohol ester. This is worse then I had anticipated – beer to get drunk cheaply to I guess.

As far as strong beers go, very cheap, reminds me of a watered down black ice. Very chuggable, very drinkable, a nice cheap alternative. barncatmatt (2355) - Cambridge, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 16, 2007
bottle. pours golden/yellow with quick white head. smells like beer and alcohol with a bit of metal. tatses unbalanced and underbrewed. lakeport is my favorite value brewer but this beer has nothing to do with it djjodskins (28) - CANADA - MAY 30, 2007
UPDATED: NOV 16, 2012 Easy drinking taste for a 5.9%. Lots of corn, a little metallic. Used to keep a bunch of these in the fridge for college parties. Classic swill. Eructoblaster (4370) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 28, 2006
Bottle. Boring gold body with heavy carbonation and diminishing white bubbly head. Its watery aroma carries corny and CO2 notes. Flavors and aftertaste are almost non existent. Useless. tiggmtl (4543) - East York, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 2, 2005
Grainy vegetable aroma. Clear golden body with small white that disappears leaving it very still and unappealing. Sweet flavour has some more boiled vegetables. Light and watery with strong carbonation that does not last well at all. Entered from notes.
