The fourth release in our Legendary Series revisits the Belgian story of Brabo vs. Antigoon, albeit in a reversal of roles. Brabo’s Cut, the first Legendary release, told the tale of a brave Roman soldier named Silvius Brabo and his heroic deeds. Growing tired of paying tolls to cross the river Scheldt, Brabo chopped off the hand of Antigoon, the menacing giant who guarded the bridge in the city of Antwerp, slaying him and collecting a mighty reward. Now centuries later, Antigoon is out for payback, bringing with him a fiery vengeance unlike any other. The antithesis of Brabo’s Cut, Antigoon’s Revenge is a traditional big, Belgian-Style Golden Ale, untraditionally brewed with a touch of cherry-wood smoked malt. At a hefty 12.4% ABV, it’s not for the faint of heart. Notes of sweet fruit and spicy esters come through in the aroma and initial taste, with wisps of smoke finishing on the palate. Revenge never tasted so sweet.

Poured from a 1 Pint 6 FL.OZ bottle. The color is a orange bronze with a large head that disparates quickly. I smell sweet cherries, yeast and smoke malt. I taste all the same, but the sweetness is somewhat overpowering.

Bomber provided by Frey, at the we don’t know shit about good beer apparently tasting at Scott’s .. Dark Amber .. Solid foam .. Sugary, dirty stone, floor malt, and booze .. . One dimensional and sticky, couldn’t finish my glass .. . . Why is everyone shouting at me today!?

RickTStiles (826) - Houston, Texas, USA - OCT 8, 2014
pours blood orange with a thin white head and some lacing. sweet, lactic aroma with notes of wheat and cherry. taste is a sweet with orange, tangerine and apricot notes. finish is a tad spicy with the sweetness hanging on. another American beer that overdoes the sugary quality of belgian styles while coming short on complexity.

SPDickerman (1239) - Texas, USA - JUL 28, 2014
Pours orange golden with a small white head. Smells subtly smokey with a bold sweetness. Taste is strongly sweet, hints of smoke, and a touch of malt. Full-bodied with a slick texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Lakewood Antigoon’s Revenge finishes with a lingering sweetness reminiscent of honey.

YuckFouBrew (12) - Frisco, Texas, USA - MAY 25, 2014
Some of the worst crap I’ve tasted in a while. Overly sweet and unbalanced.

ilovedarkbeer (2748) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - APR 28, 2014
Pours a deep golden color with a creamy white head. Notes of honey, burnt bread, fresh air, and bubblegum. Silky mouthfeel.

Tap at Craft & Growler. Amber in color with an average off-white head. Aroma is of malt, smoke, leather, light peppers, and ham. Taste is of smoked ham with pineapple gravy, light salt, caramelization, toffee, and brown sugar.

travita (5006) - Dallas, Texas, USA - APR 24, 2014
Tap. The look is clear, off white head, and copper colored. The smell is Chinese food, soy, malt, fruit, and salt. The taste is rich but not in a good way, malt, salt, soy, smoke, and odd.

Draft - Apricot and fruity Belgian yeast. Clearish gold with a rich beige head. Bubblegum, apricot and sweet fruit. Not sure if I really get the smoke, but the sweetness may have covered it up. A decent strong, but nothing special.

jhamp9 (1931) - Corinth, Texas, USA - APR 11, 2014
Clear orange pour with a nice off white head and great lacing. Aroma is smoke, candy sugar, and stone fruits. Taste is smokey, peach, honey, with some faint bread and alcohol. A little sweet. Full body.

TizzleJizzle (792) - Garland, Texas, USA - APR 10, 2014
On tap at the Bluebonnet Brew-off. Poured a orange with a small white top. Taste of sweet honey, bread and fruits. Medium-high carbonation, thick oily body. Legendary indeed!
