Jet black pour, finger + of billowy mocha. Nose is woody hopiness. Bittersweet. Middle is a blast of charred black malt, caramel, hop resin, coffee grinds. Finish is velvety, and a little more bitter than sweet. Interesting. olio (10169) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAY 24, 2017

Aroma is a bit odd with some cocoa and vanilla. Also salty licorice. Flavour has grapefruity hops, salty licorice, some mild vanilla tones, and coffee. A bit too salty but not bad.
(Draught) Pours an opaque black body with a medium brown head. Aroma of grain, popcorn, caramel, citrus, and licorice. Flavor of roasted grain, raisins, licorice, bread, grapefruit, pine, and caramel. fonefan (48790) - VestJylland, DENMARK - DEC 12, 2014

Clear dark brown color with a small to average, fizzy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, dark malt, moderate hoppy, grapefruit, spicy notes. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, salty licorice, dark malt, hoppy. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. IMO. maybe a bit more like a Black IPA !
Dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is malt, caramel, coffee, pine. Flavour is roasted malt, coffee, hop, pine, bread, alcohol, caramel. Full body. Nice/OK beer. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - JUN 22, 2014
Bottle:   That’s pretty black.   Pithy citrus peel up front.   Flavors of black malt, soft roastiness, citrus peel and pith, some dank hoppiness.   Gets a bit brighter on the back.   Very unique and interesting, Black IPA with the smoothness of a lager.   Roasty backside, but with a sweet citrus peel.   Might say its more of a Black IPA than a Schwarzbier, but nonetheless its interesting.   Warming but not alcoholic.   Just noticed this was 9.3%, wow.   Very dark pithy finish.   Pretty tasty!   Thanks Bill! dfinney23 (3255) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUN 17, 2014
Kind of tastes like a forest fire, in a good way. Pine and smoke and chocolate (left behind by the campers making s’mores who started the forest fire in the first place, no doubt). jandd1983 (4276) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - JUN 15, 2014
It poured a pitch black color with a tan head. The aroma was of pine, citrus and hints of dark chocolate. The taste was hoppy with hints of lager and chocolate. It was medium-bodied with a slick texture and smooth carbonation. Good stuff. Thanks Johnny! TXBadger (2811) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUN 5, 2014
Pours a black color with tan head. Pine, bread, and roasted malt on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with a bready note.
