Pours a dark brown with some red hue when held up to the light with a three finger khaki head. The aroma is chocolate and light roasted malts. The flavor is similar to the aroma with milk chocolate and light roasted malts. The mouthfeel is medium and drinkability quite high.

Bottle. Pours a very dark black-brown with a cinnamon ring-head and lace. Nose is smoke, dark chocolate, candy orange slices, orange peel, and vanilla. Not overly rich or sweet; it’s a nice balance between the chocolate/orange additives and the basic, simple porter. The orange hits at the front of the mouth, the chocolate in the back, and then both stick around for the long, festive finish. Not overdone, which is the key to why it works. Good beer.

Little hint of hops. Well done toast. Dough. Pours black with a thick long lasting foamy dark tan head. Leaves a thick foamy coating on the glass. Slightly burnt toast. A little earth. A little sweetness. Just a touch. Medium bodied. Smooth. Easy drinking. What a porter should be.

12 oz bottle at Free Play in Richardson. Taste of dark roared malts, vanilla, burnt toast, and a stronger than expected dark chocolate/hop bitter finish. Lively carbonation, full body. Overall, a little too bitter for my blood, kind of reminds me of a non-West coast black IPA. Either way, solid brew

It’s kind of like a roasted chocolate orange. Is that a thing, because I want one. Pleasantly bittersweet and dry.

Nice dark color with a tan head and good lacing. Smooth beer. Roasty sweet aroma. Burnt toast, vanilla, coffee and cocoa. Real pleasant.

12 ounce bottle thanks to Secret Santa crajun! Dark brown, large creamy brown head, good retention. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruits, leather. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, some bright citrus just peeking in from the background. Medium bodied, high carbonation.

Bottle from Total Wine. Almost black, with a light beige head. Chocolatey, smooth. Only a slight acidity from the orange. Not bad.

dyetube (1378) - Hurst, Texas, USA - JUL 12, 2015
On tap at Lakewood Brewing. Pours black with a thin khaki head. The aromas are milk chocolate, cold coffee. The mouthfeel is watery and bitter with a heavy body and low carbonation. Cheers!

PorterPounder (8312) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JUN 24, 2015
Garland, Tx - on tap at the Lakewood Tap Room. Deep, dark purple - brown pour, sticky khaki colored head. Plum, chocolate, coffee in the aroma. Flavor has some creosote notes, some topsoil, a touch of chocolate, a light hint of fruitiness reminiscent of dates and plums. Nice thick and chalky mouthfeel.
