COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lager in the Smoked Baltic Porter style. Impenetrable. Black in colour. On the nose, this extreme version of the Ghisa features toasting, coffee grounds, smoking, bitter cocoa and toffee notes, and a winy alcoholic component which accompanies the fragrance of alcohol soaked redberries.
In the mouth, it’s full bodied and corresponds to the sensations felt in the nose.
Meditative warming beer, the alcoholic impact is not as violent as expected.

Curiosity
Having a high alcohol content of 8.5% Vol. and the intense smoke aroma, this beer, from legendary Ghisa family, has brought fame to our Brewery. Today in Milan "El Ghisa" is a friendly way the citizens still call traffic officers; most probably because of old black uniforms worn by the officers that reminded of the colour of cast iron fountains. Besides, their top hats popular around the year 1860 looked like cast iron tubes of some German stoves traded in Milan at that time. 20°

Totally black and with no top. Roasted coffee grains dominate everything both to the nose and in mouth. Very bitter but with elegance. Full bodied, carbonation is flat almost. Alcohol is well hidden. Not very different from the standard version for what I remember. Simple, maybe too much, but nice.

Bevuta il 29/09/2017 @ChiareScureFestival in Milano. Alla spina. Schiuma cappuccino mediamente persistente. Al naso affumicata e tostata. Al palato si sente ancora l'affumicato, con note metalliche e di catrame, quest'ultima affatto piacevole che rovina la bevuta.

GustavJ (67) - Drammen, NORWAY - OCT 2, 2017
Presentation of beer to be sold at the Norwegian Vinmonopolet. 20.sep. 2017. Deep brown, almost black color. High long lasting beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, nuts and roasted malt. Tast of mellow smoke, cacao and tar. Dry mouth feeling, despite much taste. Exciting. A beer that stands out in the crowd. Nice long bitter finish that increases and stays long.

On tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Dark pour with a medium-head velvety tan head. Notes of roasted malts, rich dark chocolate, smoke, roasted coffee. Really intense, with a well-integrated smokeyness, not too intense or overpowering. Full body, medium carbonation and a long roasty finish.

rafax (386) - POLAND - AUG 20, 2017
Bottle. Jest black with big, frothy and very solid tan head and good lacing. Not very strong but well balanced smoky and dark chocolate aromas. Chocolate notes become stronger while warming. Some roasted and cacao tones in the background. Taste is sour, heavily roasted, slightly ashy with solid sour and bitter finish. Medium body, pretty smooth mouthfeel with well hidden alcohol appearing just with light spicy feeling in the finish. Regular Ghisa was very good, imperial version is amazing!
