Porpora is an interesting Bock hopped with Styrian Golding, Perla and Cascade and dry hopped with Styrian Golding.
Lager in the Hopped Bock style. Bright red colour with ruby reflections. On the nose, caramel notes are neat and followed by clear herb notes from hoppers, finally surmounted by winy and dried fruit scents. It tastes of syruped fruit but it never becomes sickly, thanks to the perfect balance ensured by the hopper. As a whole, this beer has an extraordinary balance which makes it extremely easy to drink. 18°

Tap at the Italian job, deep dark reddish brown with a lacing head. The candy sugar and dried fruit aromas are almost misleading, as along with lightly toasted caramel, the body brings dryness plus unexpected notes of liquorice and an earthy, almost wormwood bitterness. Fascinating.

Sampled draft @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. Deep brown amber, solid off-white head. Nose is metallic, strongly herbal, sugary sweet. Taste is herbal, sugary, licorice, leaves, overly sweet, some Belgian characteristics,… Body is thick sugar & some yeast. Overly sweet & simple, not really into it. I never seem to get these highly rater bock’s.

1.5dl on tap at Craft & Draft, Amsterdam. Body is clear deep amber brown, head is big, beige, creamy rocky, mostly lasting, excellent lacing. Nose is milk chocolate, light roasted malt, flavor is chocolate, roasted malt, dried fruits. Medium sweet, medium roasty bitter. Finish is medium lasting roasty medium bittersweet. Medium body, dry texture, average carbonation. Easy dessert beer, not too exciting but good one.

On tap @ Brassigaume. Clear reddish amber colour with a nice off-white head. Malts, caramel and light hoppy aroma. Average carbonation and medium body. Taste is sweet with some bitterness towards the finish. Overall, nice but not remarkable.

Klare dunkel orange braune Farbe, mittelgroße beige Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig, etwas Karamell, leicht hopfig. Geschmack scharf getreidig, sehr malzig, Karamell, geringe bittere im Abgang.

It’s super smooth beer. Exactly a it’s depicted on the deScription - great balance, extremely easy to drink. And because of its high abv it’s so sneaky.

Tap 125 ml. Oh no, it’s a bock. Hoppy and distinctive one, but still a bock. I guess I will never get used to this kind of taste.

lello4ever (990) - ITALY - AUG 22, 2015
UPDATED: AUG 23, 2015 Ambra scuro, schiuma sottile. Aroma di malto tostato e caramello. Molto bene al palato, tostatura, dolce con un finale leggermente amaro, sentori affumicati, legnosi di medio livello. Buona la carbonazione che accompagna la bevuta.

fiammanghilla (972) - Genova, ITALY - AUG 22, 2015
Spina @ fob. Ambrata carica con bella schiuma. Morbida, corpo pieno. Piuttosto calda, chiude naara dopo note di frutta rossa
