UPDATED: DEC 28, 2012 The biscuity pale malt nose is followed by healthy fruity caramel...Spicy hops and these cohesive malt flavors lead to a balanced realm of nourishment and drinkability...Who else in North America but L’Amère à Boire would offer us such a rare style (a 15-degree Czech Polotmavé for crying out loud) for a refreshing Christmas?...

tap on the premises. clear dark golden reddish pour with a nice light beige orange head, some retention and lacing. spicy and fruity malts, nutty caramel, absence of christmas spices which i’m delighted, grass and herbs. moderate carbonation, light body - oily, grassy-spicy balanced finish. solid brew.

Verre de dégustation à la brasserie. Arôme: Odeur de caramel et d’épice. Apparence: Couleur ambrée. Carbonisation faible. Petit col qui forme une dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût d’épice et de caramel avec légère touche de sucré. Palette: Aucune amertume en bouche. Très agréable à boire. (Rating #50)

Deep sandy red, hazy and wearing a small off-white cover. Fresh malt aroma not unlike fruit flavored cake or bread. Crushed perfumey nutmeg, rather buttery in a scottish way. Pleasant hoppiness. Comfortable mouthfeel. Typical well balanced Amère à Boire lager.

On tap (4 oz) @ L’Amère à Boire.

Appearance: Clear amber/copper with a small white head and good lacing.

Aroma: Toasted malts, hints of fruits/raisins, notes of almonds and light spiciness.

Taste: Rich toasted malts with a light well integrated sweetness, light spiciness, caramel, light fruitiness and almonds.

Palate: Medium body. Moderate/medium carbonation. Rich and full mouthfeel. Slightly warming finish.

Overall: Another beautiful creation from L’Amère à Boire. Nearly perfect cohesion and balance. Great depth from the malts. Really well executed.

Clou de girofle, banane, caramel avec une moyenne amertume assez persistante. L’effervescence est active et soutenu. Très rafraîchissant.

Mildly spicy hops play nicely with the caramel in the nose. Almost opaque amber-brown with decent, large-bubbled, off-white head that recedes to generous cover with some lacing. Caramel and toffee malt flavours dominate with a spicy hop flavour and decent balanced bitterness. Engaging carbonation on the tongue. On tap at the brewpub.
