Lubiere (14133) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 23, 2010
A golden barley wine with a thick frothy dark off white head. In aroma, a rather lager like offering, with light fruity notes, light licorice, so-so aroma. In mouth, a nice and smooth ale with an oily mouthfeel, warming alcohol, light czech hopping, very subdued. Not bad, but not to my liking. 10$ for 500 ml bottle at the brewpub, Dec. 26 2009.

(Rating #2840)

09.12.29 bottle shared with friends @ pub. Clear dark copper soft carbonation almost no head. Alcohol low caramel some fruitiness. Not much hop presence I get more alcohol than anything It has a full body.

radiomgb (2686) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 8, 2009
Rich mahogany in colour with a thin white head, light lacing.
Aroma is candyish, some caramel malt sweetness, light hops, light alcohol.
Flavour is of candied fruits, lightly bitter, some alcohol, light hops.
Sweet mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation.
Finishes hot but a bit thin.

Not bad but this seems to lack some oomph. Was surprised by the amount of alcohol in the finish after being hidden so well.

Draught at LAmère à Boire in Montreal, Quebec.

Sampled on June 3, 2009.

rederic (3341) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 12, 2009
330ml flip top bottle at the brewpub, hazy amber hue, with a beige head, yeasty, with a dried dark fruit accent of raisin, date, a mild malty grainy, toasty note, with a hint a toffeeness, and a floral hop fruity citrusy aroma follows through on a full-bodied palate with a yeasty, fruity, toasted, caramelized malt character, with a candied citrus flowery faint leafy, piney note, with a warmth sweet sugary raisiny, plummy flavor, with a hint of toffeeness, leading towards a warming, malty, lingering hop leafy bitterness finish.

beerbuzzmontreal (3487) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 25, 2008
Clear bronze pour with a medium white head. Aroma of candied fruits and caramel, it feels a bit bland for the style. Flavor of mild floral hops, caramel and candied fruits. The body is medium with a liquorous texture and gentle carbonation.

mabel (9245) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 9, 2008
[1455-20080531] Tap. Boozy faint lemon aroma. Clear, orange body with a big long-lasting foamy off-white head. Boozy grainy sweet malt flavour has heavy malt. Medium-full body is sweet. A little sweet.
