UPDATED: JUN 11, 2013 On tap at Amère à boire, 12oz. Yellow with medium fluffy white head. Great lacing. Aroma is malty, hoppy and fresh. Taste is malty and discrete hops. Bready and hints of citrus and maybe bananaa. Finish is light bitter. Very enjoyable and tasty. Very refreshing. I definitely had my pilsner fix ! This is quite discrete brew and I’m no pilsner specialist like some here. You definitely can’t judge this beer by its abv. Try it !! 8,4,8,3,14;3.7 Re-rate 2013-06-11 Wow this time it was in very nice shape. Big malt, great hops. Amazing how they manage to get such a rich malt profile in such a low abv beer. Amazing beer. beerbiere (101) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 10, 2009
I was amazed how palatable this beer was. I found it compared favorably to Cerna Hora and even at 3.6%, the beer did not lack body or depht at all. Crisp, clean and oh, so refreshing. Over my previous visits, ever since this beer has been on tap, I kept ordering this beer pints after pints. No need to be guilty. I think this is l’Amere a Boire best offering. Too bad it is not likely to be brewed again, according to the owner, people are reluctant at trying this session beer, for it seems they expect it to be too light. They could’nt be more wrong! radiomgb (2686) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 8, 2009
Deep golden in colour with a long lasting white head, excellent lacing.
Aroma is very floral, grassy, lightly spicy, herbal.
Flavour is spicy, wheat, citrus, lightly bitter but sweet at the same time, dry.
Dry mouthfeel, light body, medium carbonation.
Finishes long, soft, floral. beerbuzzmontreal (3487) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 8, 2010
This is very good. Very refreshing, excellent beer for having such a low alcohol %.
Draught at LAmère à Boire in Montreal, Quebec.
Sampled on June 3, 2009.
The pour reveals a clear dark gold color with a thin white head. Superb aroma of biscuity malt and fresh, crisp Saaz hops. Solid flavor of fresh, leafy Saaz hops with biscuity malt and a fruity presence, there’s mild bitterness in the end. The body is light with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. This beer is a pleasure to sample, it’s quite refreshing and satisfying from a hedonistic point of view, it’s quite an achievement. MartinT (10014) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 1, 2009

Outgoing Saaz spiciness bounces and flutters all around this Světlé Výčepní’s valiant bready cereals, creating a cushy, lovely example of old world drinkability. This little sister of Cerna Hora might very well be as satisfying for long sessions.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam laces atop the veiled blond.
-This has to be the first 10-degree Czech-style Pilsener brewed in northeastern America?
-Carbonation is soft and the body lean (but never thin), building an engaging mouthfeel.
-The finish is lightly bitter from the Saaz’s herbal character and a tad dry as well.
-A few more pints of this and I might fall in love just like I did with their Cerna Hora many years ago! Bravo! Now if they could brew it as often...;)
On tap at the brewpub.

(Rating #2386) JoeMcPhee (9459) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 5, 2014
Pale golden straw colour. Thick white head. The nose is crisp and clean. A bright spicy hoppiness over a surprisingly malty base. For a 10• brew it’s actually got a fairly rich base in it. Great balance of malt and hops. Moderate bitterness but quite clean. A faint sulfite nose - the kind of beer you could drink all day. Lovely and fresh. On tap at l’Amère à boire. Clear yellow with a medium frothy head. Aroma is noble hops with malt and raw cereals. Flavor is Very malty for such a low alcohol beer, with raw cereals and noble hops. The best beer below 4% I ever had. This brewpub is just getting better and better. sseb69 (1928) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 14, 2012
