Deep cloudy golden pour. Very fresh malty aroma. Baked bread, light spice and a very soft fruitiness. Has a yeasty note that I enjoy as well as a rich chewy flavour. It’s really nothing like other steam beers I’ve had as it’s got a much more malt character. Rich tasting, moderately sweet and a little chewy. Nice brew - reminds me of Lithuanian stuff more than it does of steam beer. MartinT (10036) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 31, 2014
My Bottom Line:Marheb (6193) - San Diego, California, USA - APR 13, 2014
Slender biscuity malts, floral hops and bubblegum-like accents round up this lean Steam beer, building towards a balancing hop bitterness.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the pale amber.
-This is obviously in the same flavor and texture family as their Vollbier.
-Drinkability is through the roof, which not surprising for L’Amère à Boire.
-The flavor profile is balanced, as expected.
On tap at the brewpub.
Des malts sucrés grassouillets deboulent et entrainent des esters diversent dans leur chute. Le tout se fait guillotiner brutalement par une forte amertume et brise aussitôt la rondeur. L’alcool est également bien présente, liquide bipolaire intéressant. Quevillon (3174) - Boisbriand, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 25, 2013
Drank on tap (12 oz) at the brewpub on August 24, 2013. Honey amber, little head. Sweet barley aroma with herbal notes, a bit of peaches. The taste is similar but dry with a mineral touch, a little bitter herbs. Not really my style but well done!
