It was drizzling rain and getting pretty cold when I walked in to the pub, so a nice, tempered cask ale was just what I needed.
Bronze/orange, with a frothy, dishwater head. Oaky, cidery and apricot aroma with some citrus overtones.
Low carbonation (duh), some biscuit, mandarin oranges and a brisk, green tea astringency that creeps up on you as you drink down your pint. Easily one of the finest cask offerings in town, even though the selection for this type is pretty slim in the area.

[cask] Cloudy, orangish light brown with a bubbly, beer engine head that lasts. The aroma is orange blossomy hops with a very tiny amount of caramel--quite gentle. Serving temperature was appropriate and the engine was nice, but the beer is really lacking in caramel or toffee for a nice pale ale. Still very quaffable. Light body and watery with a very low amount of carbonation and maybe just a tad astringent.

I like the hopping. Good body and mouthfeel. Little aroma. An English styled ale (except for the pump tap...).

Virtually no head if not none. Very thin kind of watery density, orange colored body apperance. Very light malt aroma. Moderated hop (floral). Light to moderated initial hop flavor and bitterness. Moderated bitterness, long finish. Very light and watery body in my mouth. A very little astringence in finish. Flat carbonation (hand pumped). Tasted on tap at the brewpub in a small tasting glass, 3rd of 10 beer in this session (18 november 2004).

Pleasant hop nose, with sweet malts placed beneath. Light, small head. Medium bodied, clean. Notes of green apple in aftertaste.

Malty aroma, light copper, tiny tan head. Soft malt flavour, followed by a tiny hop taste. Light bodied, slightly bitter. Ordinary.

Cask. Light orange pour. Strange fruity aroma - very strong - grapefruit like. Lost more grapefruit in taste, with a rather muted malt presence. Nothing really jumps out at you in this beer besides the aroma. A tad too thin and watery as well. Still decent, but just ok.

Cask conditioned. Cloudy amber color with a thin, bubbly head. Very enjoyable aroma of caramel and hops. Interesting flavor of hops and caramel. Very light mouthfeel caused by the cask conditioning.
