1.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Without a doubt the worst ipa I’ve ever sampled. This is a very heavy, very malty, disgustingly sweet beer without much hop character. This is a very poor example of an ipa. Hop Hog? They need to change the name to Malt Hog. IPA’s should be hoppy and bitter not sweet and malty.
I used to love this app BEFORE this latest update that forces you to login but even more annoying is the fact that you are forced to write a minimum 75 character comment when rating a beer.

Pours copper with a thin head. Aroma is very malty, caramel and bread. That flavour is great, a nice malty backbone with a wonderful bitterness. Exactly my type of IPA Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - JUN 2, 2017
Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a burnt glossy copper color with a sly transparency about it. Carbonation was somewhat seen rising at a moderately slow pace. Speckled lace followed the finger’s worth of white foamy head that slid off fairly slow.
The aroma had some bold citrusy to floral hop character up front flowing over a clean sturdy malt base - somewhat caramel/toffee.
The flavor was moderately sweet through the blend of hops to malts and infusing a stiff biscuit/cracker backbone that bled into the aftertaste. Finish was malty but had a little bit of hop spice.
The palate was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt appropriate. Some acceptable bitter harshness.
Overall, I was a bit surprised at this one as it seemed like a Long Trail IPA put on steroids to lean towards the American side of the wheelhouse and actually quite good. Amazing that I grew up in the county directly north of this brewery and I haven’t had this IPA until this week and it’s as good as it is. beerbellybill (6) - - OCT 21, 2016 does not count
Pretty solid IPA. Have to support the local PA breweries! Great logo too!!! dlovell2 (2172) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - JUL 19, 2016
On tap at brewery. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is citrus and pine with floral notes. Light malt body with citrus flavor up front and finishing with some pine bitterness. Solid IPA.

Draft. Clear dark golden. Piney hop aroma. Taster is bitter pine up front then more grassy spicy herbal through the finish. Light malt but present. Nice on style IPA. Bartzilla (622) - La Mesa, California, USA - JUL 14, 2016
Such discourse. When I see HOP HOG IPA, I don’t want a malty backbone. But that’s how it is. Not a bad beer and a bit hoppier than the other crap I’ve had that called itself IPA or IIPA or Double IPA. Get your recipes together. you all make the same beer that tastes like it all came from the same malt mulch. This beer was just OK. I don’t expect to find a good beer in this area. hman43 (1612) - Pinehurst, North Carolina, USA - JUN 24, 2016
It pours dark golden with a decent orange hue. It has an off white moderate head with moderate lacing. Overall it is slightly cloudy. It has aromas of grass, bread, pine, and citrus. There are flavors of grass, toast, pine, a hint of floral and hints of citrus. It has a light-moderate feel to it with a low-moderate bitter finish. Overall, it is an easy drinking ale that is not quite aromatic as most IPA’s or bitter. scarletfire65 (1472) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 24, 2016
Bottle at the hotel during Guardian Life opening in Bethlehem PA. Flowery hop aroma with pieapple, apricot, and pine notes. Sweet and malty, dry piney finish. Fresh and bright tasting. italianjohn (3163) - Penndel, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 17, 2016
Deep copper pour with a thin soapy white head and thick bands of lacing .... Aroma of citrusy grapefruit, orange, light floral and piney hops with a caramel malt as well .... Taste is of caramel and biscuity malts, citrusy hops grapefruits/orange mostly ... Bitter and dry hopped on the back end with more malt character as well .... Finish is clean and dry hopped with bitter and caramel malt ..... Decent sessionable solid bodied IPA
