Pours a hazy deep mahogany with a foamy tan head. Aroma of dark syrupy malt. Taste is malty with a note of roast that finishes with a nice mild bitterness.

Bottle from Smith’s. Hazy blackish pour with tan head. Roasty dark malt in the nose, some hops, smooth flavor and finish. MacNJ (123) - New Jersey, USA - JUL 3, 2017
The label states it won the gold at the World Beer Cup in 2016. This beer packs all the good qualities that I like in a flavorful stout in the wintertime (dark pour with a thin, white head; coffee and toffee notes and a hint of coco); however, as a lager at 5.5%, it’s easy drinking and refreshing in July. Cheers! JStax (7371) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - JUN 13, 2017
12 ounce bottle poured into a tulip glass. The beer is a clear dark brown with a khaki head of foam. The aroma has chocolate and whopper crunchy filling. Sweet throughout. Kind of like a super sweet milk chocolate. Medium body and a higher carbonation. Just a very sweet beer for the style. beastiefan2k (4230) - HdG (past: NYC, KS, Rain City), Maryland, USA - FEB 2, 2017
12 ounce bottle. Dark brown clear color, not black. Very clean lager, shockingly didn’t know what to think with this brewery. Clean bark, fresh, even Ca littlr crisp with light malt sweetness aroma. A little earthy and very clean. Just a mild carbonation on the light body with a slightly sweet not sugary brown tree bark earthy flavor. Very drinkable and surprising since I didn’t know what to expect and was very happy.

On tap at brewery. Pours dark brown, almost black, with an amber tint and a cream colored head. Aroma is roasted malt smokiness and cocoa. Flavor is toasted malt up front with unsweetened cocoa and light smokiness. Finishes with earthy, herbal hops. Really nice version of this style.

Draft at the source! Brownish red with tan head. Light molasses aroma. Sry caramel flavors with spicy herbal hop to balance. Faithful to style with some cocoa in the finish. Travlr (26942) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - APR 8, 2016
Draft at the source. Clear dark maroon color, thin tan head. Aroma of dark toast. Taste is burnt toast, black pepper, light body. can8ianben (1611) - State College, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 1, 2015
Sweet and just a bit smokey. Nicely balanced with just a bit of hop bitterness on the finish. Crisp for a dark beer. Nice.
