Surprisingly nice. Got it from a friend, and thought it would be too strong for me. But when I tried, I was very pleased by the fruity and malty flavor. A nice ruby pint rich and smooth, poors well a nice clarity and easy drinking. bernardhutch (3) - USA - JUL 21, 2009 does not count
Great beer. Has to be a favoutite (even though it is not my highest score... go figure?)
Could stay on this all night... but shouldn’t. At 4.9% dangerous strength with sessionable qualities. shoestring (420) - larkhall, SCOTLAND - OCT 17, 2012
i actually enjoyed this immensely. Lovely red. Taste improved as well, as it heated up. Jolly nice. Bottled from Asda. drpimento (3733) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 12, 2011
Pretty good brew. I let the bottle warm up a bit out of the fridge first. Poured an average sized, light tan head that settled down quick and a little lace. Color is a clear red amber with plenty of active bubble trails. Aroma is malty, toffee, caramel, some milder dark ripe fruits, a little hop. Flavor’s almost exactly the same with some bittersweet flavors coming out. Good body and carbonation. Finish is like flavor and is extended. Session beer. imdownthepub (15131) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 17, 2008
Cask conditioned at Far from the Madding Crowd, Oxford. Red brown with white head. Rich dry bitter, fully flavoured, hoppy with fuller roasted malts. Some malt sweetness in the body delivering a touch of alcohol. Good bitter finish.

Cask, The Hub, Liverpool. Hazy amber, sparkled. Hoppy spiced aroma with fruity apricot. Bright crisp finish.

Bottle. Deep rust brown with a generous tan head. Nice smells of malt, toffee and rich caramel. In the mouth, the sweet caramels come to the fore with a slight metallic tang and some fruitiness. Picking out plum and a little apricot. The finish is mild, but pleasant and leaves behind a lasting sweetness and bitterness. MaltMan88 (10) - Bury, Lancashire, ENGLAND - FEB 23, 2013
UPDATED: APR 17, 2013 Lovely initial aromas out of the bottle. Dark chocolate, Espresso and cranberries on the nose. Palate pretty feistily bubbly but overall well balanced flavours taling off with slight hoppiness, digestive biscuits and a lovely bitterness SarkyNorthener (4765) - West Bromwich (Yorkshire Expat), West Midlands, ENGLAND - AUG 13, 2013

avion, aldridge. Dark reddish brown beer with small head and decent lacing. Aroma of dark malts and toffee. Taste is dark fruits, dark bitter chocolate hints and treacle malts. I enjoyed this one.
JDW, Rochester. Roasty premium bitter. Pleasant soft sweet malt and a decent fresh hop finish - touch of nettles. Yummy.
