Cask, Regular;
An auburn beer with rich complex flavours and a deep red glow. The sweet maltiness is balanced with spicy hop aromas and a dry finish. Definitely a pint to savour.

Gravity dispense at Ascot Racecourse Beer Festival 2012 - 06/10/12. Listed in the program as 5.2% ABV. Clear chestnut brown with a small off white head that soon thins to zero. Malty nose with toffee and nuts. Taste follows nose with a little biscuit. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a dry finish. Assumes the classic 6-3-6-3-12 ’Whelmed’ formation !

Red Lion (JDW), Bitterne. Vinegar. I don’t think the beer is off, I think the staff didn’t clean their lines. Our other beer was also vinegar, but undrinkable. Thus JDW only has two guests, so the other had to be swapped for a Ruddles. Anyway, beyond the vinegar there is a honey sweetness and some chocolate.

Cask conditioned at The New Inn, Littlehampton, W.Sussex. Brown with white head. This starts off fairly nutty in character, some sweetness then turning towards bitterness. It’s okay.

Cask @ South Western Arms, Southampton. Unclear amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma is malt, caramel and toffee. Flavor is light and smooth with the same flavor as aroma. Low bitterness. Easy and smooth, but not much exiting, the name must be the most exciting part here.

This was a very flavoursome drink, with a very pleasant aftertaste that lingered on the tongue.

berkshirejohn (6501) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - AUG 19, 2014
Cask at the Rose and Crown, Sandhurst. Chestnut with a scummy cream head; malty aroma with some orange fruit; silky in the mouth, with a sweet caramel malt taste; and some spicy toffee and warmth to the finish. Satisfying.

Bottle from Beer Essentials, Horhsam. BBE Oct 2013. Gotten a bit old. Pours a reddish copper with a large, big-bubbled, quickly vanishing, yellowish-brown head. Aroma is plum and prune. Later sweetish caramel and flower. Taste is a lot of caramel, slightly sweet. Some prune there too. Dry, bready finish. Light, not much carbonation.

Cask (gravity) @ The 18th Reading Beer and Cider Festival 2012, Reading, Berkshire England.

Clear medium amber colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, nutty, chocolate - cacao notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration, thin, keller, nutty. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20120505]

ManVsBeer (10464) - Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAR 27, 2013
Reddish brown, clear ale with a sweet aroma. It has an acute strong taste that lingers. Although there’s some in the nose there’s no real fruits in its flavour. No head.
