Bottle at the Funky 6. Pours black with a slight, beige head. Fruity, orange citrus hop aroma with underlying roast. Pleasantly sweet with notes of grapefruit, caramel and dark malts with some piney bitters. Medium bodied with average or low carbonation. Lightly roasted malts and some resiny hops to finish. Quite nice. fiulijn (20806) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 11, 2013

The bottle is gushing a bit, quite a rare event for American beers and for this style; it has therefore a very large head, but rather compact, beige colored, while the beer is dark brown nearing black; nice lace too. The aroma is a nice combination of black coffee and resiny hops, with an impression of citrus fruits. The mouthfeel is dry and smooth; good flavor of roasted malts, without excessive burnt character, and well integrated with a quite strong bitterness, and loads of soft hop resins and hop oils; long final.
Very drinkable; excellent example for the style.

Dark brown with off-white head.
Sweetish malt nose, hops, a touch of chocolate, rasiens.
Juicy hops flavour, little citrus, caramel malt.
Medium bodied dryish finish. rlgk (18850) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - AUG 5, 2010
SBWF 2009. Dark amber colored beer with a small head. Black currant flavor, hoppy, spicy and fruity. mcberko (18113) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 13, 2011
22 oz. bottle, pours dark reddish brown with a beige head. Roasted malt and piney / citrusy hops, with slight fruitiness on the nose. Flavour boasts some intense, almost burnt, roasted malt, with a slightly subdued piney hop bitterness at the end. Quite nice indeed.

Kind of a murky chestnut brown with a thin bubbly head. The aroma is very toasty and earthy, both from malt and hops. Toasty palate with earthy hops, a dull bitterness and unfortunately not much brightness. Gets chewy towards the finish, possibly with some alcohol. Just needed something for me to latch onto. Dark ruby color, small steady off-white head, some lace. Intensive nose: blackberry juice and sweetness. Active carbonation. Blackcurrant and bready malts: combination of berries, hops and sweet candies. Finish is hoppy. Very interesting and unique, good!
Rich dark ale. Resembles a farmhouse. I got a lot of earthy barnyard notes in the nose and palate. Rated 3/13/10 bhensonb (15358) - Woodland, California, USA - JAN 4, 2009
Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Very dark color, but there is lots of ruby on the edges. The head is multifinger beige. Aromas of resin and floral hop with roasted malt. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Taste is astringent hop with reasonably toasted malt. There is a lot of herb or floral aspect. Maybe even a little grassiness. Sort of puckers the mouth in the finish. Lots going on with this one. With time I can imagine there is a bit of sour. But maybe it’s just astringency.
