Archive review: Nice long lasting 2 finger tan head... brew is black. Aroma is creamy and lite roast coffee... like a milky latte. A little chocolate as it warms. Grainy .. dark grainy ... milk chocolate malts and a good backbone of dark malts. Only enough char to make things interesting. Middle of the road bitterness with a silky smooth mouthfeel. Very nice from start to finish.

Beautiful dark colored body, light brown head. Heavy chocolate aromas, with roast malts and coffee. Bitter sweet. Taste is of mocha, chocolate. Very nice.

Dark brown, small tan cap. Savory beef, black olive, roasty burnt malt, and a subtle sweetness on the nose. Flavor kicks up the sweetness, but the savory elements hang around. Medium body, smooth, real easy. Kinda weird, bad bottle? Will rerate when given the chance. From notes.

12 oz bottle courtesy of an extra from riversideAK. Pours a very dark near opaque blackish brown, a big dark brown head that cakes, stays moderate sized, laces ok. Aromas are some sweet lactose, a touch of sweeter chocolate, roasted malts and a bit of coffee provide some roasty bitterness. Very dark chocolate in my book, with a sweeter edge like you find in mass produced dark chocolate candy (Not the 80% Cacao quality stuff) Initial is light bodied with an almost watery body for the style, roasty malts mix with chocolate and coffee, but smaller, decent intensity. There is almost a twang to the beer, underbodied and lacking the creamy body or sweetness I was really thinking I’d get. Ok, but not a sweet stout I’d revisit.

I wanted to like this one more than I did. It pours very black, with a dark tan head. Taste is more bitter than sweet. Roasted coffee flavors. Not one of my favorite stouts.

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2009 Tap. I enjoyed this beer a lot. Flavors of coffee, oatmeal, and chocolate. This beer was incorrectly advertised at the bar. I looked at it as a stout not a sweet stout.

Very unique flavor. I have never had a beer quite like this. Nice sweet flavor with balanced bitterness of an imperial stout. Easy to drink.

Tap @ TFD Boise. Great mocha-colored head. Aroma of burnt-chocolate. There seems to be a sour off-taste, not what I would expect from a sweet stout. Seems overly bitter. I expect more lactose-based sweetness. OK for a stout, but sub-par for a so-called sweet stout.

After waiting a good half hour for the head to subside, what was underneath was so-so. Over-carbonated.
