Welcoming aroma of coffee and semi-sweet chocolate. VERY dark pour, a tad thin, with a light brown head. Delicious flavor of espresso and bitter chocolate. Pours a black-brown with a robust brown head, leaving behind some early lace. Bitter chocolate, dark roast, hint of prune in the nose. Lively carbonation early, seems to play itself out to become a more creamy mouthfeel later. Chocolate liqeur, coffee roast, hint of greenstick hoppiness. 12 oz bottle, via acertain. Completely black pour with a frothy one finger light brown head. No sediment noted in bottle. Roasty aroma with a lactic sweetness. Notes of espresso and chocolate. Roast and burnt toast flavor up front with a lactic and slightly sour finish with some espresso. Texture is oily and medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. A deep black color with a very light head. This was a good use of dark malts, chcolate and molassaes flavors. This had a great start and a terrific finish. A great beer.
