This is no better than the non-barrel aged one. Appearance dark brown with no light coming through and a 1 finger brown sugar head. Aroma was sweet dark chocolate with dark malts and a hint of coffee followed by some barrel aroma, very minimal. Taste was sweet chocolate up front immediately hit by the roasted malts. Mouthfeel brought this down with a very syrupy feel. Not impressed by this barrel aged and must say that if there is any difference between the non barrel aged its minimal.
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass:
Black ish brown beer. Brown creamy head/lacing.
Nose of bourbon, roast, spice, malts, liquorice, cough syrup..
Flavour is subtle roast and bitter with liquorice and cough syrup spice, light bourbon, liquor... decent but a bit out of tune...
Aftertaste is bay leaf, roast, liquor, light bourbon...
Low carbo, light creamy silky ish mouthfeel, medium bodied. Bit unbalanced... bigben873 (265) - Virginia, USA - MAR 24, 2017
Not too smoky, big imperial stout, but still not as smooth as I like an imperial to be. ludhaber (127) - Massachusetts, USA - MAR 24, 2017
This is a big beer. Lots of complexity to think through. Roasted malt with the darker malt providing probably a little too much astringency. The finish from the bourbon barrel is fun. There’s some vanilla in there too, that’s nice. drsordr (2928) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - JAN 3, 2017
Several year old bottle shared by alexsdad06 was an immediate gusher on opening. Nose some gym sock funk. Then some toffee, barrel, bourbon, and light mineral chocolate. Taste some fleeting tart funk up front, them some of the expected beer. Chocolate, mineral, and light barrel. stchloe (1118) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 3, 2017
Smelled really bourbony, and definitely had the flavor, a little too dark malt burntness, not a lot going on beyond bourbon, dark malt, and booze.

Aroma of whiskey, plums and fruit, pours a dark black with a thin tan head. Taste of dark berries and malt with an oily feel and a bourbon and malt finish. DocLock (11191) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 11, 2016
Draft at Capone’s. Hazy black pour with tan head. Nose was dark malt, oaky bourbon, hops. Tasted oaky, bourbony, with dark malt, hops, molasses, and a somewhat dry finish. Hammy78 (977) - Dundas, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 30, 2016
Picked up at Zyn in Calgary. Pours a midnight colour, khaki head, that dies to nothing, some spots of lace. Nose is very sweet, vanilla, booze, oak barrel. Tastes sweet, bitter, malty, boozy, vanilla, licorice, abc burn. AgentAle (1853) - Fort Mcmurray, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 13, 2016
Aroma is roasted malts, caramel, light tart and chocolate. Taste is rich deep malts, toffee, caramel and dark chocolate. Light tart and dark sugars round out the experience. Appearance is black with a medium brown head that retains fairly well.

650ml bottle. Pours an opaque black with a medium, creamy, long lasting, tan head that laces nicely. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, licorice, bourbon, vanilla, dark fruit, chocolate and oak. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, licorice, vanilla, dark fruit and oak with a dry, warming bourbon finish. Medium to full body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Very nice.
