Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has notes of bourbon, wood, roasted malt, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, bourbon, alcohol, and wood, leading to a dry finish where the alcohol burns in the throat. anders37 (26641) - Malmö, SWEDEN - DEC 10, 2010

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Doodler. Pours an opaque black with a creamy light brown head leaving laces. A little wood in the nose, but not distincly Bourbon barrels combined with sweet roast. Solid body, heavy roast, heavy licorice, spicy woody, dark fruits. Again the Bourbon doesn’t really shine through. Still a very solid Impy. Rather malt bitter finish. 170611 Travlr (24841) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - AUG 5, 2010
650 ml bottle. Dark maroon, massive brown ice-cream-cone style head, solid lacing. Aroma of wood-fired pizza oven. Taste is smoky, lots of wood, some milk chocolate. OK.

Stouts III Tasting. Opaque black - brown big tan head. Softish palate with fine carbonation. Minerally carbonation. Mellow chocolate, dark malt and a bourbon. Mild lactose. Chocolate finish. Pretty decent but I seemed to be the only one to dig it. Probably shoulda had this before the big Bruery’s!
Bottle at the Stouts Pt. III & Others Tasting - London. Thanks to Kenny. Pours black-brown with a tight, creamy tan head. Some lightly tangy dark malts in the nose, bit of roast, dark leather. Medium sweet flavor, a bit more tang, so e baking cocoa, bitter earth. The tangy edge seems a bit out of place. Full bodied with average, creamy carbonation. Lightly warming finish, some tangy dark malts, bitter cocoa, light bitter earth. I would say the beer is a little infected. fiulijn (20515) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 13, 2016

On tap at Brouwer’s for Big Wood, pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma of wood, roasted malt, and subdued bourbon. Flavour is more pronounced on the bourbon than the nose suggests, with vanilla, roasted malt, slight sourness and minimal sweetness on the finish. Quite complex and well-rounded.
