Smells hoppy yet slightly sweet. Maybe a bit caramely. The color is amber and a bit hazy with a small off white color head. A nice refreshing light bodied brew. You can taste the caramel malts a bit but the bitterness complements the sweet. It is very hop flavored but not to over bitter. The aftertaste is a bit sweet and bitter muvh like the first taste. Not a bad brew worth a buy. hansenkw (12) - - AUG 18, 2012
Has a dominantly piney aroma, with light citrus notes and touch of toffee. Poured a beautiful, transluscent rusty copper, with a long lasting creamy, lacy, off white head. Surprisingly malty for an IPA but has a great mouthfeel with lightly roasty aftertaste. My bottle seemed slightly overcarbonated. Typically Laurelwood is one of my favorite breweries, Gearhead did not impress me as much as usual.

This was a draft pout at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon. it came a slightly hazy golden color with a nice white head, and even lacing on the plastic cup.. The nose is floral, pine, and citrus hops, and lot of it. Body is medium plus, and the mouthfeel is silky smooth.
The flavor is rich, but well balanced between malts and hops. There is just the right amount of bitterness, and it continues into the dry bitter finish. This is simply and excellent west coast IPA, and exceptionally refreshing. KyotoLefty (10209) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JUL 31, 2012
Draught at the Brewpub. Light bronze-gold with a nice head. Good hop aroma: grapefruit, light tropical fruits. Nice biscuit malt flavor blending with big hops and a bit of paint thinner. Soft and smooth. Doesn’t need that thinner character.

Orangish light copper with short creamy head, good lacing.
Aroma has some fruit slight berry and evergreen slight floral or pine slight spice.Toast.Pretty refreshing smelling. Not strong but nice.
Taste has similar qualites with carmel and more dry toastyness slight yeast/vegetale(but disappears later) pretty subltle but balanced with not a strong bittering but a light short pine presence that disapeers quickly but not completly. Leaving a sublte slight spice dry toast. Pretty refined and sessionable and seems like a 5%er but becomes creamy smoother more body and herbal in aroma as it warms .Pretty tastey and very drinkable.I like this the more i get through it and warms. It takes a big turn throughout-interesting and enjoyable. cstuartj (1020) - Washington, USA - JUN 15, 2012
Cloudy brownish yellow. Big head. Good nose, pine and citrus, not amazing though. Mild okay taste. Too much malt for my looking. Ok beer. Benjii (3049) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUN 14, 2012
In bottle. Pours a golden colour with a thick white head. A hoppy aroma of pine, pineapple, passion fruit, caramel, toffee and alcohol. Similar flavours and quite bitter with moderate carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Quite dry also with lingering bubblegum. Very tasty and I love the label too.
