Tap @ Concordia Ale House... Poured amberish/red with a thin, off-white head. This was a rich and malty brew. Aroma of malts and dark sugars. Sweet boozy flavors and prominent hops leaving it complex and awarding to drink. Bordering a barleywine here with dark fruit notes and bittering finish. neepsntatties (2028) - Portland, Oregon, USA - SEP 16, 2009
Had this on tap this evening at Laurelwood’s location on NE Sandy Blvd., in Portland. Colour... deep orange-amber with a thin head. Nose... both piney and citrusy hops. Palate... plenty of froth, despite the thin head, LOTS of hops up front which continue to balance well between pine and citrus, resinous, generous malt foundation, nicely coating and a long finish. Tap at PIB. Clear red pour, small white head. Huge hop aroma, pine mostly but lovely bursts of citrus as well. Some caramel malt in there as well. Flavor is a near perfect balance between pine/citrus hops and the caramel/toffee malts. One of the best imperial reds I’ve ever had. stchloe (1104) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 22, 2009
Simply taken aback by this beer. A deep red with strong pine and resin notes. bu11zeye (13140) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - JAN 13, 2009
