When creating this beer, we set out to create a lager that has its heart in the Northwest. This beer has a firm bitterness with flavor and aroma impressions of pine, citrus and fresh cut grass which is the signature of American hops while still on their best behavior. A new classic, a NW Pilsner will all the implied contradictions.

Golden-bodied, lively carbonation feeds a thin, but resilient head. Feintly fruity and poppy seed aromatics greet the nose. Body is rather dank, green herbalness, and catty. Some airy spicy hops and rye on the finish. Piquant for a pilsner, but not really to my tastes.

Bottle from Brewers Haven. Pours out clean and clear, soft fluffy head. Aroma favors the grains, while taste had the right amount of hop bite, crisp without being overpowering. Theres hope for the American pilsener yet.

Bottle, brought to me by George-- thanks! Medium golden, slightly hazy, lasting white head. Light grass and citrus, clean pale malts, assertive bitter finish. Nice pils.

From bottle to glass. Moderate high grass, moderate cookie dough and faint perfume. Clear yellow with large white head that retains fairly well. Slight patterns down the glass. Taste is spice, bitterness and floral.

Typical yellow clear body to the lager..with a nice thick white head. more piney/grassy hop than expected for a pils..well sharper than expected but still nice. Very hoppy at first..grassy/grapefruit then fades fast leaving relics of nutty malts.

On tap in Sellwood. A: Light clear copper with a placid ring of white head. N: Malt sweetness and some light hops bringing out a nice caramel and pineapple along with straw. T: Tastes more like an IPA than a pils. Heavy hopping leads to noticeable bitterness. M: Very resinous with a medium mouthfeel. A bit harsh and astringent. O: I was going to ask if I was served the wrong beer, then I noticed the IBU of 50 on the board. While this might pass as a decent APA or IPA, this is too off what I want in a pils.

Bottle. Clear medium-light gold body with a short white head. Aroma is a cross between American and German hops: lemon / spice suggests German varieties but the garlic and onion and fresh-cut pine lumber and pineapple rind suggests American varieties. Medium-light body is a little chewy and goopy. Moderately sweet and heavily bitter with somewhat husky pilsner malt. Brash and astringency onion and rice cake and garlic bread and tropical gum finish.
