COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rich Coffee and chocolate flavors dominate this opaque working class Ale. Stout’s extreme popularity among the British factory workers of the 1800’s may qualify it as the fuel for the Industrial Revolution. "By the time you get it, you’re too far out."

Draught. Pours a near black color with a moderate tan head on it. Nose is quite roasty and dark with some very subtle dark fruit elements underneath. Taste is roasty and slightly bitter, with a very faint hint of sour in there. Good brew.

Theydon_Bois (20462) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAY 29, 2013
Cask at Laurelwood on Sandy, PDX, 25/05/13. Mid black with a thin tan head, good lacing ensues. Nose carries a good roasted malt blast, chocolate, brown sugars. Taste comprises bitter roast, chocolate, molasses, sugars. Medium bodied with soft carnonation, smooth on the palate lending towards bitter roast in the finish. A decent cask conditioned stout.

Dogbrick (13547) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 26, 2013
Sample at the Laurelwood Public House at PDX. Jet black pour with a medium khaki head that diminishes gradually to a film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and hops. Medium body with flavors of coffee, chocolate malt and earthy hops. The finish is roasty with a coffee aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

On tap. Pours a pure black hue with a large beige head. A nice nose of char, coffee. The flavor is excellent: dark fruit, smoke, rich roast, damn this is good. Best beer at an airport ever!

maekchu (4024) - Hirakata, JAPAN - MAR 8, 2013
Draught at the Laurelwood NW Public House. Like the organic porter, with more burnt malt grain. Rich, chocolately stuff. Full-bodied. Not a monster, but just right!

Fatehunter (2604) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - JAN 3, 2013
On tap in PDX near the "E" gates. One finger of tan head on a pitch black body. Aroma is coffee, chocolate and roasted malt. Great balance and boldness. The taste is coffee, chocolate and roasted malt with the chocolate really shining through. Texture is silky with low carbonation and heavy body. Overall an excellent beer.

On tap at the PDX restaurant bar. Dark brown with tan small head. Nose of sweetened coffee, little hint of cola. Taste was like bitter ice coffee with a tad of sugar. Medium bodied, nice feel and finish
