Draft at the brewpub. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted sweetish malty chocolate aroma with some hints of coffee. Sweetish roasted malty chocolate and coffee flavor. Cask at Laurelwood on Sandy, PDX, 25/05/13.
Mid black with a thin tan head, good lacing ensues.
Nose carries a good roasted malt blast, chocolate, brown sugars.
Taste comprises bitter roast, chocolate, molasses, sugars.
Medium bodied with soft carnonation, smooth on the palate lending towards bitter roast in the finish.

On tap at Laurelwood PDX, pours black with a large tan head. Aroma birds out dry coffee and roasted malt. Flavour is similar, with very dry coffee and roast. Fairly bland, but creamy palate. Decent stout.

Near black colour but with mahogany highlights. Aroma is of sweet chocolatey malts. The flavour is also sweet, the overall character rather lightish - mainly chocolate and sugar. Kind of like if you brewed a Foreign Stout specifically to serve as a dessert.

Dark opaque brown color, steady beige head. Lots of roasted coffee and some dark chocolate in the nose. Medium-bodied. Toasted malty, coffeish and chocolaty. Nicely balanced and coffeish stout.
Draft at the brewpub. Aroma of toasted malt and coffee. Near opaque brown/black color with a tan head leaving lacey rings. Near full in body. Moderate in carbonation. Fair amount of coffee flavor dominating toasted/burnt malt. Finish is burnt malt bitter. Never distinguished hop. Very nice stout. Half way to Imperial? Sample at the Laurelwood Public House at PDX. Jet black pour with a medium khaki head that diminishes gradually to a film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and hops. Medium body with flavors of coffee, chocolate malt and earthy hops. The finish is roasty with a coffee aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
