Deep dark amber hue under a thin ivory ring of foam. Nice sweet caramalt and gentle molasses nose with a subtle earthy nuance. Smooth deep semisweet flavor with a medium-full body and a hint of molasses and a gentle earthy bitterness. Smooth winter warmer malty sweetness with a little rye and nutty depth. andrewje41 (4867) - Kenmore, Washington, USA - JAN 19, 2016
12 oz bottle poured. Pours a dark reddish snow globe with a swirl fizz head. Spiced heavy malt aroma with a sweet caramel front flavor. Nice roasted finish. Solid winter beer here. Alphadelic (2261) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 17, 2015
The nose is pretty bland, light Malts and esters. It has a sweet and fruity flavor like a golden raisin. A hint of smoke and bitterness in the finish. It’s not my favorite and seems a little shallow. JohnGalt1 (1721) - Boise, Idaho, USA - DEC 9, 2015
Bottle picked up at Brewer’s Haven Boise a week or so ago.. Finally getting around to enjoying it tonight out of my little CC snifter.. Clear light tea colored amber... Okay foamy white head, little retention or lacing.. Dry toasty maltiness.. Earthy... Lightly hoppy.. Not overly done in any respect, very well integrated and drinkable.. Malty, but not as much as most Winter brews and the hops are very balanced... Almost like a "standard PNW brew in reverse". Nice and never heavy. stevoj (6209) - Boise, Idaho, USA - DEC 4, 2015
Bottle from Brewers Haven. Not getting much out of this, other than a brown ale with a bit too much hoppiness. Super dry, chalky finish. Nice pour with small fluffy head and rings of lacing, but that’s its lone redeeming quality. At 6.4%, its not even that much of a warmer.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2015 Look : Beautiful chestnut/mahogany colored body with cherry hints. 70% opaque. 2 finger head, leaves lace in creamy webs.
Smell : Nut, bark, chestnut. Faint aroma.
Taste : Pine with nutty flavors. Brown malts. Pine. Nut. Brown Malts. Pine. Nut. Nut. Pine.
Feel : Creamy and medium bodied, high carbonation, semi dry finish.
Overall : I figured this would be a decent choice to come back from Portland with. Turns out I was wrong. This was too piney and too one-noted. jsnicholas (744) - Woodinville, Washington, USA - OCT 22, 2015
Bottle (12oz $2): redish brown with white head. Starts out malty then the hops kick in with some bitterness. biirusaikou (2705) - - JUN 2, 2015
Draught at SL Beer Hall. Toffee, raisin, all spice, quite varming indeed. Not bad for a xmas brew but unfortunately imported off-season... shoulderbroken (4256) - Tokyo, JAPAN - APR 13, 2015
Tap at BCS. Dark fruit and spice, Gingerbread, biscuits, nice. Good stuff.

On tap at the brewpub - Pours clear dark bronze with an off-white head. The aroma has horehound candy, caramel, toast and an English yeastiness. It has a medium smooth body with lots of soft carbonation. The flavor starts off with caramel, thick toast, overdone bread and earthy hops. The finish is earthy, woody and rustic with just a touch of the horehound candy. Pretty nice.
