Sampled from a 22 oz can this beer poured a black color with an enormous foamy brown head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was dryish and toasty with a cola presence. The flavor was bitter and dryish with coffee, wood , cola and a bit of mustiness. Long finish. Medium body. Disappointing. knickskicks (1162) - - JUL 12, 2015
Can, dark brown pour. Nose is brett, roasty grains. Taste is citrus, brett, roasted malts, chocolate, coffee. Lots of bitterness in the finish that turnd into chalkiness. blankboy (7689) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 2, 2015
[Can (12oz)] Pours a very dark brown with a large lasting frothy beige head. Some minimal lacing. Aroma of toasted malt, light leafy hops, light chocolate, light spices and some fruit. Flavour is malty and fruity along with some coffee, chocolate and light hops. Average bodied. Not sure why, I found this just good. MarkSachon (1023) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 19, 2015
12 oz can. Runs to the sweet side with a bit of sour. A good experiment but not very satisfying. callmemickey (4543) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 1, 2015
Dark brown-black body, medium to thin light tan head, spotty lacing. Roast, some chalk, bittersweet chocolate, light coffee. Medium to light body, a tad thin, weak finish.

Cans pours a dark brown/black with a fluffy whitish head. Aromas of spices, roast malts, and dark fruits, and some licorice. Flavor followed the nose with a spicy bite to it. Medium body and felt thin with a lively carbonation. Finishes with a mild spicy bite. Solid beer, ryanscourt (1476) - Latrobe, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 26, 2014
Dark black with small thin head. Dark malts with fairly thin body with touch of bitterness at the end. Unsure about the saison characteristics here but whatever. Drinks like a really good swartzbier MacBoost (1898) - Victor, New York, USA - OCT 14, 2014
12oz can. Pours a deep brown, almost black with a generous sized tan head. Aroma is a little watery roast, some hops. Minerally. Taste is semi dry and lightly bitter from both the malt and hops. Flavors of roasted barley infused mineral water with hop extract. High carb. Thin mouthfeel and clean yeast reminds me of a schwartzbier. It’s just ok. swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - AUG 30, 2014
draft at Blue Monk, enjoyable black saison. solid flavors of roasted malts, saison fruitiness, spicy, touch of bitterness. nice beer pete4999 (1445) - Buffalo, New York, USA - AUG 30, 2014
On tap at Blue Monk in Buffalo, NY. Leftover from their tap takeover on Thursday. Dark pour, dark purplish brown. Dark fruits...raisin, plum, cinnamon. Not too heavy though, a sweet little saison. Not too bad; these guys make some decent beers.
