At Valley Forge Brew Fest 2013. The aroma is caramel, bread. The appearance is red, offf-white head. The flavor is bread, caramel, toffee. Medium/thick to thick in body. The finish is sweet, pine needles. Very nice.

Bottle from wegmans. Pours hazy reddish brown with a medium sized tan head. The aroma has a bit of floral notes, caramel, solid hop presence. The taste is medium bitter with a big sugary caramel balance. Ok.

From a bottle poured a dark amber color with a good amount of head. Strong malty flavor with a lasting finish.

Bottle. Pours a clear ruby red body with a large two finger frothy off-white head that slowly faded, leaving some sticky lacing. The nose is not nearly as strong on the hops as I was expecting. They’re rather light with just a little citrus and resin quality. The malt is pretty strong though, lots of caramel and toasty notes. The flavor is pretty bitter up front though, rather leafy tasting hops, toasty and dry maltiness throughout. Finishes on the drier side with just a light lingering bitterness. Medium bodied with fizzy lively carbonation. This is an interesting beer, I do like that it’s on the drier side and not sticky and sweet like most Imperial Reds.

Bottle from brewskis. Nice dark reddis, foamy, hazy. Bottle conditioned. Nose is spices , plenty of caramel, pine and other hoppy notes. Palate is decent. A bit drier than I’d have expected. Overall a nice and slightly unusual ale.

Draft at Bocktown Robinson. Pours a hazy red color with a medium sized creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of big citrus hops and mild toffee hops. The taste is herbal, resin, citrus hops and toffee malts. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness. Just a bit off-balance.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Sparrow-Downtown, 12/12/12

Aroma: The nose has caramel notes, earth, some citrus/grapefruit, and a little resin
Appearance: It pours a dark reddish-brown color with a small beige head, and some light drippy lace
Flavor: Similar to the nose and balanced, with a medium sweetness and a light-medium bitterness
Palate: It has a creamy feel, a medium body, average carbonation, and a clean, mildly dry finish
Overall Impression: Even though it is 12/12/12, I’m not drinking any Vertical Epics today, but that’ll happen later (Vertical Epic Weekend!). As for this beer, this is plenty solid. Don’t let the score fool you, 20 is the style? It is better then that! It is not nearly as dry as the explanation would have lead me to believe, but it has a nice balance and drinks well. Very solid stuff.

Tap, pours a nice light red, aroma is a hoppy, flavour is bittered and smooth all at the same time, some citrusy and heavy malt body. Overall, decent stuff

Bottle at a tasting at Paul’s. Pours a hazed amber red with a thin white head. Musk and a touch of oxidized caramel on the nose. Medium bodied, sweet and malty, a touch of bitter earthiness. Malt, toast and more oxidized old malt. Finishes with a touch of bitterness and a bit more oxidization.
